With rumored S-Pen support on the S21U, is this the last Note model??

Without a housing for the pen I am not going to buy the S 21.
I currently own a Note 10+, I will then upgrade to the Note 20 Ultra and I am sure that after a year they will understand their mistake and come back with a new Note.

I still Think they will do it the other way get rid of the S Series and keep the Note series in 3 different sizes, that's my guess what will eventually happen.

Dumbest design ever. S pen compatible but nowhere to put it. It doesn't even make sense. If you need a pen, get the Note. Samsung is really getting stupid with all of this.

Some people seem to like the idea.....I'm not one of them obviously. I'd rather it stay the same with a slightly smaller battery or make it a little thicker to appease those that want the big battery.

In they end they will do what they want. The market will respond accordingly.

I seriously doubt that the Note like we know it will get discontinued until they come out with a Foldable Note version

I would be open to the fold if it had room to store the s-pen, but unless that happens it would be an absolute no go for me

Just might happen...

If they go with a loose pen support for the S21 then I can see it happening 2021. I don't disagree that the Notes have been the best design for having a pen and integrating the silo in an elegant package. But the reality is that they really don't sell many Notes a year.

There was that article a week or so ago saying they cut production of Notes of October. They are better off just tossing a pen as an option on the S21 and not releasing two flagships at two different times a year and moving those resources into the flip/fold phones.

In the end, if they killed the Note and you still wanted a pen, you basically have no choice and will go to the Galaxy S Series and get the pen.

They're the only game in town. Samsung really doesn't lose out here.

It be worse then what happened to note 7 if they get rid of the Note line , samsung won't be the same again.

They're not trying to be the same... same gets them nowhere. They're trying to go next level.

Pens are a novelty now. They are going all-in on Flip and Foldables now. $1500-$2000 phone are where it's at.

Maybe the silo/pen will live on in the Fold 3 or later. The Galaxy line-up... S21, S21+, Ulltra, Flip, Fold, Fold Ultra?? Looking interesting and sound inevitable the merging of all three into one line.

They can keep the fold for future device, but thats a different trend and people on board with that , the Note and S line made Samsung not foldable , it's like Apple saying we get rid of all iPhone now because we made a foldable device.
Will things change sure and definitely , the Note series don't look like it was when it was first introduced. In my opinion Samsung gets rid of Note or S series it's going have issues. Their better off killing all their mid range phones and keeping the S and note series. Time will tell what's going happen but Samsung future don't look bright to me.

I don’t think that’s possible because the midrange phone it their top seller... not the flagship phone.

Samsung wouldn't be on the map if it wasn't for S series or Note phones , they just got into mid range not long ago .

No, I totally am with you that they are known and recognized for their Galaxy line and represents the best they have to show.

But it's their mid range that is their money maker right now.

And they should continue with the Galaxy/S series as their flagship and use it to show their best tech. But I don't think they could sell enough to compete and have to rely on their mid range now for the real money. S sales year after year have gone down since the S4.

That's why it just makes sense to consolidate the two models... maybe three if you include the foldables. Like I said, the Note with the pen is such a niche product it can't keep going at this rate and would probably have to kill it anyways down the road. It's better to bring it in with the S-Series. I mean people have basically been calling it an S with a pen their specs are so similar.

Of course you know I love my Notes... visually and design... over the S any day. And I'll be pretty bummed if I don't have the option of a phone with the squared off corners of the Note. I'm just saying I can see it happening and just my guess why.

@mustang7757

Pay no attention to the chatter. The same menagerie of reviewers and idol worshippers were saying for months on end there would not be a Note 20 Ultra and no 50X zoom in 2020. Yet, here we are.

I don't know who you may refer to... but if you look back far enough... shortly after the gimmicky S20 Ultra came out... I was one of the first to say get rid of that gimmicky 100X Space Zoom and give us at 50X Zoom before any hint of an N20... or something like a 10X optical.

I know Samsung didn't see my post but glad they came out with what they did on the N20U ;)

I'm not trying to pick a fight , you have your right to voice your opinion, I just don't like it if it's true , I've seen Samsung since s3 , Note 2 , and had pretty much most of both their series phones and seen them develop through the years,
Trust me if Samsung didn't have both of them we wouldn't be talking about Samsung as a phone company today., they almost lost it to lg at one point. Yes now their hottest sellers should be midrange phones as most other companies out there.
But to me you don't touch your devices that made you who you are, I don't have issues with fold phones , I love all tech and like to see it develop but you don't erase either S series or Note would be bad mistake.

I was referring to the reviewers and click bait articles and their worshippers that like to quote them as gospel.

Truthfully I don't recall what you said about the zoom but I don't recall you promoting a 50X Zoom either. Maybe you did but I can't keep track of everything or everyone. I do seem to recall unless I'm mistaken you running with the rumour though that there would be no Note 20 Ultra.

We can all parrot the reviewers but the bottom line is we don't know what we don't know. All we know is that there are rumours and some rumours do come true, but we've been down this disappearing Note road before.

There's nothing wrong with killing the Note in name but killing it's concept is a travesty for Note fans when they could simply add a silo to the S21. Maybe 2021 is the year of truth....maybe it isn't. Only time will tell.

I can tell you for certain is that this man here won't be buying an S21 with a special sidekick case to house an Spen. The current Spen is nice but it's also convenient. I don't care how anyone tries to justify it, making it any other way is just changing a formula that works even if it isn't the greatest seller.
