This honestly scares me. Im afraid what might happen down the road when it's too late. I just the v20 2 days ago. I'm seriously considering if I should return it for something else but what is there? S7e is having issues, I'm on AT&T so no pixel. Iphone maybe? I'm so tired of phone issues. Is anyone planning on returning the v20? If so what are you getting to replace it?
The design is very similar to the G5. I replaced the lens on the G5 in under 5 minutes from the outside of the phone. Replacement cost for the lens 7.99 and up to 20 dollars for OEM lens. All it takes to remove the old one is a little preheating to soften the adhesive. Then you gently pry up in a broken section with a small screwdriver or small pick. Once you lift it you gently pull it off with a tweezer. If you still have the lens protector on it should be easier as it may hold any loose shards together although on the G5 there was no protector. I don't know what is available for the V20 but the replacement lenses come in two forms on the G5. A one piece with adhesive already attached and the OEM version which has a separate adhesive layer. There is also a plastic replacement lens but I'm not sure if that impacts the camera quality.
Interestingly LG does the repair by taking the G5 apart and pushing out the old lens from the inside which is unnecessary and I hear that they charge about 150 for the repair. The design is different on the V20 so I'm not sure how LG does it but I imagine it can still be removed externally. There will probably be how to videos on YouTube shortly.
Be aware that when I researched this for the G5 that I found that breaking camera lenses is quite common on a lot of phones. I also found that sometimes they crack on their own....that's what happened to me. I think its just a tight fit and they should have made the lens thicker or made individual lenses for each camera.

Nope no way I'm even considering returning something because of something that may never happen to my device. Ive got a good case on it and it's protected. If for some reason happens, that's why I have insurance! You can't be afraid of everything!!!
To this thread, I say, get over yourself and realize that things are wrong with eveything out there. You'll never find something that is without flaws. Including you.
where did you get the replacements lens? did you find the V20 lens anywhere?
I'm actually going to apply a thicker film - 3M clear bra for cars - $2.99 on Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LZN1IK9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
We as a people have become so afraid of our shadow and feeling entitled to the point that rumor of something being able to scratch potentially makes us not want it. We hear that someone broke a camera lense and we don't want it becuase it might happen to me. We think that there has to be a perfect fit out there and when there isn't companies shall pay! Everyone is so wrapped up in them deserving so much more than anyone else that they are willing to overlook hundreds of amazing things to find the one flaw that they don't even experience and consider something damned based on just someone else's experince. This is where we are now. One story here or there means that the entire product line is doomed.
Here's something that will shock you. Your computer, failed, for someone. Your car, failed in hundreds of ways, for someone. Your watch stopped working, for someone. Every product that has ever existed on a mass production level has had some fail. It is what happens. If you cannot live with that you need to buy everything one off and hand made. You need to live in a cabin you built by your own hands so that if there is a problem you can fix it. Nothing can ever be made for to wear because some one somewhere had stitches pop out and fail on them.

I prefer to just make my own with the 3M Clear stuff which would cover the entire piece, 100% -- no cutouts = more strength.

I feel that once the complaints start rolling in. Hopefully LG will step up to the plate and admit that there is a flaw within the production....I have insurance too but they still want $175 -$400 depending on what's wrong. Either way it's too much. It's not a hardware flaw so physical damage is on you.
I read and saw pics the note 7 battery issue now happened to a s7e
It's not having the same battery issue as the Note 7. What makes you thing that? One S7 Edge catching on fire? Every phone on the market today has had a phone or two catch on fire, even the current iPhone.
I was thinking it may be the start on the n7 all over again, but it seems just a random. I still think it was something more...like people sitting on their phones while in back pocket or something that caused the problem
So true man and i dont take other opinions seriously til i see it my self, just like i dont take someone opinions on new movies with out me seeing it lolWe as a people have become so afraid of our shadow and feeling entitled to the point that rumor of something being able to scratch potentially makes us not want it. Depends on your carrier and if they're willing to play ball with the phone. AT&T doesn't seem to want to. T-Mobile supports VoLTE, wifi calling, band 12,etc on my phone like a T-Mobile phone would. Verizon also works with VoLTE and wifi calling. You can order the pixels straight from Google carrier unlocked. The only thing it that some network features like VOLTE may not work but should still be a solid phone.
