Without Launchers, is android still your OS choice?

Stock Android doesn't bury stuff in a million different locations and their settings menu couldn't be simpler. Open Quick Tiles -Settings... there's everything logically laid out for you. I've been using it for months, and the consensus industry wide is that the 'stock' Android on the Nexus 5 is the most polished and refined version out there... and I don't think I've ever read "not intuitive" in any review or breakdown.

I apologize for the testiness.... but I get a little aggravated when I see the "just not polished" tag get thrown out there..... it's just a dated viewpoint from my point of view and not based on how things are now.

It is unquestionably the most intuitive thusfar. That's not a point to be argued at all. It still isn't as intuitive as other modern OSes or even as much so as some of the more dated OSes like MeeGo. People aren't going to harp on it from a review perspective because they're coming from Android being a chore to use to being usable and it is taking great strides in the right direction. There are MANY areas where Android is lightyears ahead of the competition. This just isn't one of them.

What... like iOS? I, like the other poster, have been working with technology for decades.... PDPs, old macs, DOS, windows, too many unix flavors to count, OS/2, ADAM, you name it, I've probably had some seat time on it. I know my way around this crap. And whenever I have to fiddle with a family member's iPhone....I find it to be a convoluted, numbed down hot mess. To each their own.

I have little more love for iOS than Android, it's gestures are arguably better but outside of that, it's not a lot better. Just a little. Try MeeGo or Windows Phone 8.1 and you'll see what I mean when I talk about intuitive.

I just can't get into Windows phone. Not sure why.

To be honest, the first time I picked up Windows Phone, I hated it and jumped back to my Samsung Captivate instantly... Then when I got the captivate back I realized just how much more strenuous and unnecessary everything was on it. Since then, I've used Android passively but when I'm headed out for work, I'll always grab my Windows Phone.

Android does lack polish. Sure, they fixed the most rudimentary UI elements years later but it's very unintuitive, there's no push for a similar design language across apps, the menus are tough to navigate for a first time user. Ultimately, most people will use their phones as a facebook and texting machine. It's the way of the world. It does okay in this regard, not great by any means but okay. Sure, you guys can customize to your heart's content, at least I'd assume so as you're members of a phone forum but the average consumer is settling for what, to them, is a cheaper or bigger screened iPhone.

Omg dude lol. The other thread wasn't enough? You're on a mission! :-D

Well yes. Because as shallow as this may sound... Moto Maker is what caught my eye away from my iPhone 4s. I am such a basic phone user all I need is a music player, something to play my audio books and to be able to make phone calls. And most smart phones come with those three things.

I have both google now and moto assist on my moto x and google now on my n7. Its the cats pajamas man..
