Woot! Order status changed!

Looks like we killed the Order Status page. Says it's down due to technical issues.

I'm guessing a lot of these are going to be where FedEx gets them in position, but has been told by VZW not to deliver before 4/29. Just a guess.

Yeah, they have to get all the shippments from the warehouse(s) to all the customers all over the U.S. on the same day some will be closer than others.

Yay! Now I only have two or three more days to wait. Does anyone know how long it normally takes to get a tracking number from when it gets processed?

Sorry to be negative, but I am almost sure nobody will get the phone until the 29th. Apple and FedEx did the same thing with the iPad release. They started sending tracking numbers and shipping a week before the launch. All the packages were held at the FedEx station until release day, when they were all delivered. I am certain that is what is happening here. And even if it is at the station, they will not (or at least shouldn't) release the package until the 29th.

It makes sense for Verizon to do it this way. If you think about it, it is cheaper to ship them out using 2 day service and get them at the FedEx stations ready to deliver so that everybody gets them on launch day rather than sending out a ton of packages overnight on the 28th and hoping there are no problems delaying shipment. So while some may slip through the cracks and get delivered early, I doubt most will see them until the 29th. And if I am wrong, all the better!

Yeah, that's why I'm waiting to see someone post a "out for delivery" status from FedEx.

And like I said, I could be wrong and everybody will be happy on the 28th. But I deal with shipments all the time and that date can change. If we see it on trucks for delivery tomorrow, than we are golden, but if the "Delivery Exception" status pops up, they are being held until the 29th.

It would just be a huge blunder if Verizon breaks their own street date on a huge product like this. And after it apparently already happened once on this device, I really doubt it would happen again. And if it does, I bet somebodys head will roll at VZW.

For those that got a tracking # email....did your status change on the "order status" web page, or did it still show "order processed'? If it changed, did it give you the tracking # as well?

I can't check my email from work, but I can check that stupid order status page.

The order status page didn't change until about an hour after I got the email with the tracking number.

as an FYI, I just checked mine and it says it's on the truck for delivery, maybe it will be until the 28th but it may show up at my office this morning.

If out for delivery, then I stand corrected and somebody at Verizon screwed up big time. Not that I am complaining but somebody at VZW is going to have a bad day today.
