Woot! Order status changed!

what the hell?! i preordered on the 21st - 327454xxx and still no change.

From what I can gather I think what has happened is the order were sent out to processing and some are being held to be processed today so that they are to the customer by the 29th. Others were processed early because the amount of orders that had to be processed or because one of the processing teams screwed up on the whole waiting thing..

I was told be a VZW rep that the package had to be in the hands of FedEx by 4:30 today to be to a customer by the 29th with 2 day shipping. So if you have heard anything from VZW by 3pm I would call them.
Thats my plan anyway.

This would make sense to me becuase a rep told me that they were processing 2 day shipping, then overnight shipping, to get phones to everyone on the same date.

So, following that logic, everyone that has gotten a tracking #, did you get 2 day shipping???

I got overnight shipping and only have "order processed" and no tracking # yet.

Since Verizon has several warehouses, I would be curious to see where everybodys orders that have tracking numbers shipped from. I wonder if one distribution center screwed up. My orders usually come from Memphis and I have not received a tracking number yet even though my status changed to processed yesterday and I ordered Friday night. Looks like most of the orders I have seen on here are orders being shipped from PA. Has anybody in the Midwest or West Coast have evidence their order has actually shipped and could be delivered today?

It's possible Verizon figures it would not hurt to get the pre ordered phones out a day or two early to be certain the pre-ordered arrive at or a day/two before the guaranteed delivery date. Verizon must assume (correctly) the people who pre-order a phone before it's even out are the true enthusiasts and likely the unsilent majority.

I find it hard to believe it was intentional. I know it really does not seem like a big deal to us, but compaines take these things very seriously. I worked at a Best Buy while in college and we had somebody get fired once for selling a video game before the release date. Apple had private security at their stores to ensure nobody sold an iPad early.

Now, Verizon did try to make a big deal about the Droid launch, and it was mostly quiet, with no big lines at stores or anything. So maybe they are not as concerned about this launch as far as waiting until the 29th. But I find it hard to believe that they don't care that units are out early.

Wow that sucks. It looks like yours and mine were both on similiar routes/trucks.. but after sorting at Dulles.. yours went to West Springfield, VA facility.. mine went to Herndon, VA facility.

Odd that West Springfield held the package and Herndon says it's On Truck Out for Delivery.

Just spoke with Fedex, they said my phone is only 15 minutes away at my local facility but they will not attempt to make delivery today and will not allow it to be picked up until after at least one delivery attempt.

They said, the hold is per Verizon's instructions and they can't change it.

Bummer. So I'm back to tomorrow.
