Word replacement

I am transferring from a samsung. On my old phone while texting I could set it so if I typed u it would replace with you, or when I entered r it would replace with are per my settings. Is There a way to do it on this nexus 4? It is frustrating me

Go to Language and Input. Then it should show in the Keyboard settings. If you touch default, it should then allow you to set your new keyboard default.

Thanks My phone seems to look a little different, I have added them to the personal dictionary and it will wont' fill in when I txt. More help is needed and appreciated.
I'm getting SO frustrated.
 
You need the app which I linked. Im pretty sure you cant do it with stock keyboard. I think chubb is saying you will have to go into keyboard settings to select auto text keyboard after you have downloaded it
 
Many thanks, Rizyy. I downloaded the app. Now I see FIrekeys Unlimited, is that what I want? I still have Android Keyboard checked under default.

I'm confused, are you trying to add words to the dictionary or enable auto correct?

This keyboard is fine, but when I txt in landscape, it doesnt go to my cotact list. Do you know of any other keyboard that would at the work replacement and work when turned sideways?
