As the title asks, since am turning in 2 devices toward the ZF3 (my ZF2 & N10+), have read in this forum posts of difficult transactions when turning in devices to Samsung, therefore, any suggestions of how to "safeguard" the transaction?
Do any of you add extra insurance?
Do they send the shipping label with the new device?
I've dealt only with Assurion with phones, though I'm sending a broken device so wouldn't add insurance, etc. This time it's $1200 credit.
Thanks!
Peace

I've never traded in with Samsung before but I have done so with other companies with phones and computers. What I do when trading in was take photos and made a video of the device in question. For the video I would do a complete boxing of it, from start to finish uninterrupted (mention date and time also). Show it power up to start screen, then turn it off and go over the whole product point out if any scratches or other damage or if it's in good shape. Close up of screen to show what the condition is and go over the whole product with a detailed description. Basically think of an unboxing video just applied to you boxing up your phone. After going over the phone start the boxing process and when your done make sure to save the video/photos until you get payment. If you have any troubles with the trade in, you have a video/pictures to prove things. Enjoy your new phone when it arrives. Just make sure you have a tracking number for the package you send. You could always ask about insurance when you send it. Sorry for the long reply.

Thank you! Actually concise and thorough... appreciated!

I've trade my phone with Samsung about 4 times and all has been a great experienced. Pay very close attention to the instruction via email you received from Samsung how to turn in your trade. This is where people failed when trading.

Haha, that's what I do too - I always end up with a bunch of photos and videos showng the condition of the phone and the way it's packed and then sealed. That said, I've never had a problem with a trade-in with Samsung. (fingers crossed)

Also, make sure the phone isn't locked, etc. like the instructions will also say.

Yes, Samsung gives you a shipping label that you download from the site, if I recall.

I don't add insurance.....they provide a shipping label. I'm not sure if the shipment back to them is insured but I've never heard of any issue in that regard. Once you have the tracking number receipt you should be good to go.

Thanks all for your precise and clear responses... much appreciated.
Looking forward to the trade in process now with all your input. Thanks again!

I am bit confused on something. Per Samsung's trade in site https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...Ffrequently-asked-questions%2F&token=oOskkLCq

If you decide to change your mind on trade in device, it says they will charge you the trade in credit, but it also says they are going to charge the full price? Which is it. if I choose not to trade in my Note 20 Ultra (trade-in value @ $850) Will Samsung charge me for the $850 or for the full $1,800

You'll end up paying full price if you don't send in the Note in total.

They will charge the trade in price

Always nice getting two difference answers. LOL. JK. I'm still going to send it in, but was always curious.

Both answers are the same....you will end paying full price because they will charge you the difference by not sending in the trade which means you end up paying full price as if you had no trade in.

Samsung should hire you. You explained it better then them. It makes sense now. Thank you
