Worst battery ever

Any chance someone would charge the S4 to full and go post battery life with brightness set to MAX fora whole charge cycle, no auto brightness?
Honestly I don't understand how you guys even look at the screen running 40-50%. I am on iphone 5 AT&T LTE and my screen Stays on Max brightness and I get 18 hours easy.
Too bad I don't have a kick *** battery screen thing like android has to post as proof.
I'm asking for this because I am SOOOO torn between the beauty and the beast. (HTC One/S4) I WILL be getting one of these two devices in 14 more days... upgrade available then.
Thanks )))

I upgraded from a HTC ONE X - it was a toss-up but made the right decision with the S4. Two things that helped me with my decision: HTC Upgrade schedule is extremely slow for USA and lack of accessories. When using my HTC One X, I would buy an accessory claiming it would work for AT&T HTC One X to find out it was only for the European Models; feel like HTC burned USA due to poor marketing and planning. Sure their devices are top-notch designed/built but if they have zero accessories and slow upgrades, what's the point? Sorry. Don't mean to preach but the two items I used for migrating to Samsung are what sold me, could care less if the back of the phone is aluminum or plastic because it's in a carrying case. :) Get the S4 on your upgrade and you wont regret it.

Holy crappie. I am sending mine back. I hope I can get this. Also what wad tour screen brightness at?

40-50%

To kind of give an overview, I was on WiFi for about 11-12 of those hours. I have two email accounts syncing, Facebook/Twitter, and had Air Gesture on the whole time. I spent a good amount of time posting here, web browsing, and watched maybe 30 minutes of video. Texting and phone calls weren't that prominent yesterday. Only had 33 minutes talk time.

I'm having similar issue, i feel it's like when my phone is off(standby) it still draining the battery like i'm watching a movie or something,
unplugged my phone 3hours ago and i'm at 65%, where i actually used the phone for around one hour and half but not intense at all, just facebook and messaging.
with smart scroll and air view and such off, wifi off..

I think some folks need to remember that they should give the device a few days before judging (poor) battery life. When you buy a new car you have to break it in. A smart device and it's battery are no different. After several days have passed the battery will have adjusted to your usage (habits) and should improve. It could take a couple of weeks.

Also, today's batteries do not need to be cycled. Deplete them normally and when it reaches 15-20%, recharge. The worst thing to do is intentionally let it drop to zero before recharging. That shortens the batteries lifespan.

Usage during the first few days is definitely going to drain the battery fast. It's probably from downloading apps, playing and getting use to phone, and trying out all the new features. Once you get over that "test drive" phase it shouldn't be draining that fast.

These are my stats

Screen brightness 70 %

This is mine. I would like to stress out that i hardly used my phone, eventhough there's alot of blue, but perhaps that might explain the second screenshot.
Anybody have any idea?(screen on 50%)

The battery is so bad for a new phone just come from iphone 4s n tht phone lasted longer n that was over a year old

Best battery I've ever seen on a smartphone - and I'm not making that up.

Granted my phone has been idle at work aside from a few quick emails and 2 visits to Facebook but it's been off of the charger for almost 6hrs and I'm at 89% life. That's with 15 minute email check intervals and weather updating every 2 hours....not bad at all.

Battery on the S4 is pretty good. I had a GSM galaxy nexus and was able to get good life out of that but the S4 is even better. I have no problem getting 17 hours on heavy use. Using it more than my typical usage cycle. And with no power saving turned on.

I'm sorry but that's not 100% correct. I'll cut and paste some useful information.

Unlike NiCad batteries, lithium-ion batteries do not have a charge memory. That means deep-discharge cycles are not required. In fact, it?s better for the battery to use partial-discharge cycles.
There is one exception. Battery experts suggest that after 30 charges, you should allow lithium-ion batteries to almost completely discharge. Continuous partial discharges create a condition called digital memory, decreasing the accuracy of the device?s power gauge. So let the battery discharge to the cut-off point and then recharge. The power gauge will be recalibrated.

1) The battery life always stinks the first week you have a new phone. It takes a little while to break the battery in.
2) I've read that having air gestures and eye tracking enabled kills the battery, so try disabling features like these if you don't use them (they're gimmicks anyway)

Don't judge battery life while in the honeymoon period

? Toggle off Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC and Hotspot. Only ?Toggle On? when needed.
? Turn off Auto Brightness and reduce setting to as low as is comfortable for you.
? Sign out of services like Google Latitude, Gtalk, G+ Google Now and Messenger.
? Disable Location reporting services like GPS, Google Location and Carrier Location.
? Beware of constantly syncing Apps like Facebook, Twitter, News. Set Sync intervals to Manual if possible.
? Set Sync intervals on Non-push Email clients like Yahoo, etc. to 1 hour or higher.
? Turn off the haptic feedback (vibration you feel when pressing the glass) on all apps that have that option. Mainly the keyboard.
? Turn off Vibrate in the notification settings of any app that has that option.
? Don?t use live wallpapers and try to use dark wallpapers on Amoled devices like the GSIII.
? Also choose Dark display settings in clients like Mail or News apps whenever possible.
? Set the Display sleep timeout to 2 minutes or less.
? Remove any widgets that are not in use.
? Set the location services on Widgets and Apps, to look for your ZIP code or Home City.
? Don?t use Task Killers. They will not help you conserve battery and in some cases makes it worse.
