would you buy a smaller note?

The size would be great for me, but how would you hold it without activating the touchscreen? Cases would be problematic as well. I just don't get the "bezel-less" idea. I dislike the curved edges of my Note8 as it is.

I completely agree. I can't understand this fascination with having no bezels at all. I'm not saying I want iPhone 7 size bezels, but a little is nice to have. I think the Note 8 is about perfect, but I could do without the curved screen.

Funny, I feel the exact opposite. My kids wanted to play the gear VR the other day so I dusted off the ol note 5 and almost cut my hand off on the edge of that awkward flat screen. Ha

LMAO cut your hand off. They do have edgy edges though. Maybe have the screen flat and the phone body more rounded. Having that little space like the Note 5 has after the screen allows for a wide variety of protective cases, and for those that like screen protectors, pretty easy in that arena as well.

I very much love my Note 8, no interest in something much smaller. I like the screen/body ratio much more than my other phone (iPhone 7Plus), and am overall happy with the portability. I am fairly tall and the size works for me ... and as I am now >50 I am starting to see some diminished close-up vision so for now I have the bigger screen and then later get reading glasses!

I've never really been a fan of Samsung devices (they are great of course, just not the manufacturer for me); but maybe I'd consider or at least look at a smaller Note. Phones are getting too big these days!

I bought the Note 8 and found it awkward and not worth the extra heft for the bit of screen size over an S8 plus. So the wife now has the Note 8 with a defender case, doesn't bother her at all. My S8 plus is in a sleek Tech 21 case and is very nice in the hand.

it would make sense with a 7'' that flips open into a decent sized tablet as it would allow for bigger battery, hopefully when that time comes they will have the graphene battery technology ready too

Why not both? Having a smaller belt worn version of Note (5" height) is useful where daily activities can increase chances of accidentally hitting the phone (lifting boxes, leaning against bench, etc) when in a pants pocket.

No thanks, I am happy with the large Galaxy Note. part of the reason I go for the Galaxy Note is due to the huge displays.

If Samsung do release a smaller Note device then I hope they will give it a different name e.g. Galaxy Memo or something, so that they do not dilute the Galaxy Note brand name.

I find the note 8 close to perfect to be honest.

Possible improvements:

-Less curved design (something like a Note 8 sized Essential phone)
-Bezel reduction (shave 2.5mm off top and bottom)
-Dual front facing speakers
-In-display finger print reader
-Hell, make it a mm or two thicker (for a battery boost)

Yes, a little smaller would be fine. I loved the Note 7, but only like the Note 8. I think it may be the size is what I don't care for. But it has to have the S-Pen or it's a no-go...
