Would you buy it for $449???

If the only difference is storage, it's a tough call for me. If it has that rumored bigger battery (for the record, I think that rumor is BS) I'd go for it for sure.

Without external storage, I would have to go with the 32gig for an extra c-note.
Still a great price!

499 sounds about right its not gonna be as cheap as the last nexus people really think it is though

It put me on the fence now. For that price I want to wait and see what "the people" say. With the tax and shipping. It will be close to 500 hundred for the 32 GB. I'd rather it have a 720 screen to make it a little cheaper.

Yes, good price for what you would be getting if rumors turn into fact. Hopefully the new Nexus 5 will arrive soon!

If this was a carrier phone with unremovable carrier apps, with updates subject to carrier's whims then no, I would not buy it. Since this is Nexus then yes I am buying it.

I could always be wrong but I don't see this. Consider the new Nexus 7. It has better specs and more storage than the 2012 Nexus 7, and for only $30 more. So I'm hoping the 16 GB N5 well be only $30 more than the base 2012 N4, $329. If it's $349 or $379 it will still be a bargain. I really don't see $449.

Google is trolling the entire interwebz right now. They had several employees leak several price points to several news outlets and are sitting back watching what happens to determine a final price.

LOL, nobody knows anything. But I think that given the nominal increase in price of the Nexus 7 2013, we'd only see a similar nominal increase in price (if any) with the Nexus 5. At least there is some history to support that theory. An almost-doubling in price? No support for that at all, just baseless surmise.

LG G2 cost ?400 so this needs to be similarly priced or cheaper otherwise you can just buy a G2 and root it.

I actually hope it is more expensive than the N4. I am tired of everyone thinking google has to give their stuff away. I mean look and the completely baseless rumors surrounding the moto x price before it came out just because they are "a Google Company". How about Google sell a device that does not have to have the "best value" added to it and just make a device that is the "Best".

Got excited, really wanted this. But, over $350? Can't't see it.

And what phone exactly would be the better unlocked contact free phone for $450?

I think they will keep similar process to the nexus 4. Just like the nexus 7 did. But even at $450 it would still be the best value in unlocked super phones.

In my opinion, these specs are worth way more than $450. At that price, it's a steal. Plus, it will have LTE, this time around.

I don't get it; Google effectively addressed some of the concerns regarding the Nexus 4, yet people expect this to be priced exactly the same?

32GB of storage, 1080p 4.96-inch screen, Snapdragon 800 processor, 2300mah battery, soft touch, durable backing (from leaks), 2GB of RAM, and GSM/CDMA radios (w/LTE) to operate on three carriers stateside. This is top-of-the-line hardware that can easily be sold for a premium price. $450 would be a steal, for what you're getting.

I understand, there are people that can't spare $450, for a phone. To those people, I say: if you haven't tried out the Nexus 4, then that's your best bet, if you absolutely must purchase a Nexus device. Many people are selling it for way less than its original asking price. Some people are even undercutting the "fire-sale" prices.

I agree that the phone is worth $450, and I'd be willing to pay it (or more), but if it comes in at that price point I'd be more inclined to hold off until early 2014. I'd stick with my Nexus 4 as my daily driver and then decide to upgrade or skip a generation.

"How about Google sell a device that does not have to have the "best value" added to it and just make a device that is the "Best"."

Because they can do both and will with the Nexus 5 or Nexus Prime or N5squared or whatever the heck they call the thing.

I'm sure the final N5 will be a great value, whatever Google decides. I'm just saying I'll have to sit out this upgrade, if the price goes that high.

Exactly they'll make it cheap enough but it's def not going to be cheap like the nexus 4 if spec rumors are true
