Would you buy your Nexus again?

Absolutely. I love this phone. My only complaint is that I didn't get it sooner. I opted for the rezound first and had to sell it to get this phone. It was a nice phone but the nexus is much nicer.I really like how the extended battery does not turn the phone into a brick.

Nope. I was really excited to get this phone, however after 5 replacement devices, I wouldn't purchase the Nexus again. Verizon has given me the option of swapping out my device for a new one, and even though the S III is still by Samsung, I'm gonna give it a try. The signal on my Nexus is just horrible - so bad that I can't even stream music from Pandora without it constantly buffering (that's when I have a good amount of reception too). I'm a little bit scared to go with Samsung again, as all the previous Nexus' I've gone through have always had hardware issues.

Hell yes I would. Never had a phone I liked this much and I'm confident it'll keep me happy for at least another year or two. I used to change frequently. That said, apparently QC wasn't up to par. I feel for those that haven't been able to experience this phone for all the awesomeness that it is. Mine was great stock as well.

BTW the "slow" screen rotation was never a bug. It was designed that way @ 200 ms on 4.0.2. I keep mine at 100 ms (can change from 10 - 300). I suppose they changed it in the OTA stock 4.0.4.

So you're saying your signal strength is good (how many bars?) and yet you still don't get good speeds? And have you tried other phones at this same location and how do they compare?

I absolutely would by the Galaxy Nexus again. I would probably buy the HSPA+ version just because it's more directly tied to Google, but the delay for updates is not that bad. How many other phones out there are running 4.04? Not many.

Of the issues you mentioned:
1. No signal issues for me.
2. No random call muting for me.
3. Almost every review of every Android smartphone complains about the speakerphone. I installed Volume+ to bump it up a bit. Not a big deal.
4. Screen rotation is fine in 4.04.
5. Battery life is comparable to any other Android phone with a big screen.
6.Updates - see my comment above this list.

Every phone has lots issues that vary from user to user and location to location. Just go through all the forums here. Even the mighty HTC One X has tons on complainers and the Galaxy S III will be no different (GPS complaints are alread rolling in).

Yea I would still buy the Gnex. I have never had any of the issues the people on this forum complain about. The 4.0.4 update just made things even smoother for me. I only wish the camera was better and since I'm on Verizon I wish it had global roaming capabilities like the GS3. Would I buy this now this late in the game, probably not but I don't regret ever buying my phone.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I did a quick scan of all the responses and here are the "survey results" to date:

  • Total responses = 21
  • "Yes I'd buy again" = 16 (76%)
  • Not so clear = 2 (10%)
  • "No I'd not buy again" = 3 (14%)

I think for me the last issue that's been holding up my buying decision was the sense that it wasn't too good as a phone (there have been quite a few complaints about that on forums).

But for what it's worth this group didn't seem to have general call quality problems. I realize however that for some people using a phone for calls is a minor feature. ;)

And one of those wouldn't buy again was in my opinion a location issue. The Nexus is awesome and I wish I could have kept it. I hope you have better luck than I did, enjoy. :)

I had it for 2 weeks...and if I could do it all over again...I would get it back. Compared to another phone I have now...the Rezound..the G Nex was probably better as a phone. Shocking, huh...lol. And had alot more upside to it.

IMO its location or going in n out of different locations that the G Nex suffers. At a spot near where I used to live the decibel readings on my RAZR and Droid X was -55. The G Nex did great there. Any phone should. Its probably across the street from a tower.

Where I live now? On my RAZR, Droid X the decibel readings are in the mid -80's to mid -90's...low -100's. With my apt being a virtual dead zone. The G Nex didnt do too good. That and I think quality control was or is lacking with all these phones. My ...2nd..Rezound has the exact same issues as the first, 2 different sim cards too. There are reception issues I see popping up with the RAZR now...which is kinda odd. And when one has reception issues...it could be the network.

**I know all about the decibel and bar readings of the G Nex vs other phones. All things being equal....one should be able to use the decibel readings for finding a good or bad reception area, like a compass. Since the RAZR uses the phone reception as priority...I always refer to its readings*** (Looking at threads around the net...the G Nex in the -70's is equal to the RAZR in the -50's.)

I wanted to ask all you folks who've owned it for months now if you would you buy it again, after knowing what it's like now?

I've had a Galaxy Nexus since launch day, and I would absolutely get it again. I haven't had any issues with mine.

I would say either flash a custom rom or stick to GSM. Verizon has shown that they don't like the idea of a Nexus phone by their slow update process. They ruin the experience.
On the other hand, there is great rom support for this device.

No I will not buy one of these phones again. After getting the 4.0.4 update my phone rebooted it self 3 times battery life is not that great. They could of put a better camera in this phone.

Although my Nexus is a little better signal strength wise since the update, I don't think I would but it again because of the signal strength issue. There is a grocery store that I go to and I always like to surf while waiting in line, my Nexus can't get a signal bit the Maxx can. It's little things like that which would keep me from getting it again.

I would buy another Nexus phone though on Verizon if it's made by Motorola.

Yes, I would. My only complaint is the battery life. And that's with 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS turned off. Does anyone know of an extended battery which will work with the stock battery door?

After getting it just the way I want with rooting then absolutely. I'm still however disappointed with the camera.

Unfortunately no.. regardless of what you might read in this forum, the truth is if you are on 4G all day by 5pm your phone is dead. I need a phone that will last all day and the GNEX is not it..

No I would not because the two units that I have had do not work as phones. Continue to have microphone cut out even after 4.0.4
I have used the phone since day 1 , 12-15-2011. I love the phone so much that I waited for the update.
Sadly I need a phone that works and I will unfortunately need to downgrade to a phone.

Yes. I would buy it again. I really love the screen and how responsive overall the phone is. I would like Verizon to get off their butts and sign off on the updates faster. Hoping that they have a system now after holding up two updates. At the year mark I will flash a rom as to reinvent my phone. By TGIF now....I'm good.
