Would you have liked the S8 if it had a removable battery?

Would you like to have seen a removable on the S8?

Re: Would you liked it if the S8 had a removable battery?

Absolutely. The S7 was water/dust resistant and had a removable battery. 90% of people slap a case on the thing anyways. I normally have my phone last 3-4 years and after 2 years or so the battery definitely drains a lot faster. Only reason I'm looking for an upgrade from the S7 is I switched carriers and need a phone compatible on Band 66 for LTE

The S7?

Must have meant S5.

I used to be a removable battery guy, but I think at this point, I'm used to not having one. Design is pretty much always better on phones that don't have removable batteries so I'm happy Samsung is continuing this way.

Re: Would you liked it if the S8 had a removable battery?

I will always prefer a removable battery... that way at least I have options. I may not always NEED a removable battery, but I like having the choice.

I use cases for water protection anyways, and a dry-sack when things get really ugly.

I believe the reason for needing a removable battery is important.

1. Has their able to fit a higher capacity in the same size of battery when I still have my phone two years from now, I would probably buy one.

2. If the S8 operates somewhere to my current S5 that I'm looking to replace, right now my phone dies with it showing 38% battery still left. Therefore it would be nice to buy a new battery and replace it easily and cheaply.

Please vote. I would rather have a removable battery, but seems like people would rather have wireless charging and water-proofing (although this could have been done just like the Galaxy S5 had the ability to do both). Pretty sure Samsung won't bring that feature back but would be nice to see what people think

Also who else remembers this commercial?

Nope removeable battery is pointless in 2017. Casual users prefer fast charging and waterproofing. Please guys get over tjis battery nonsense and ir blaster **** makes us phone/tech guys look like whiny nerds.

Battery is the biggest deterrent to phone longevity. Every phone I've owned has started to show power issues (ie shutting down at 20%) and more rapid decay of battery life after 1-1.5 years. Replacing the battery has always fixed the issue. This is built in obsolescence on a phone without a replaceable battery. Yes, they can be service to replace the battery, but at a higher cost than being able to do it yourself. It's giving up more control on your $800 device.

My preference these days are:

no removable battery
no sd card
no aux connection

yes USB-C

I just dont use the first 3, and I prefer a phone that doesnt have effort/space/resources going into stuff I won't be using.

I've had phones with removable batteries and not once have I ever swapped one. I'd much rather have a premium build. If the S8 as anywhere near as nice to hold and use as the Note 7 then it's going to be a home run in my book

I couldn't agree with you more. The one downside to my Honor 8 is that the battery is non-removable. I want my next phone to have a removable battery. It's much less of an expense to fix battery issues that way. Like you, most of my phones would start shutting off early (15-20%) or would show other symptoms of battery problems. It's just easier to have a removable battery, IMO.

Quick charge eliminated the need for swappable batteries.

After several years, IF NECESSARY, a service technician can replace a battery for less than $100 and that includes the battery.

Quick charge + almost every flagship since summer 2013 has been able to easily last a full day or more for most users.

I like removable batteries, I can carry an extra to swap out instead of hugging a power outlet
There's quick charge battery banks as well that will charge your phone several times over. Of course, you may need to be off of it for a bit now and then to take full advantage of it.

You must hate these new phones from LG and Samsung then :P.
I do, zero plans to buy either phone. Don't care for phones that can break on the front and the back when dropped. The S8 has the advantage of glass breaking on all four sides and is very expensive to repair.

When I am planning to buy a phone, a removable battery is one of my criteria for judging. Smartphones aren't perfect. These are just gadgets. Anytime sooner it will become sluggish and having a removable battery will help you to easily soft reset your phone. Also, having a visible battery makes me feel safer. And when the battery is not working properly anymore, you can easily replace it without the need of going to a service center.

It's one of my criteria too, but the other way. If it has a removable battery, I'm almost definitely not interested because that shows their priorities are out of whack.
