The Sky is Falling!
Just jumping into the fray here without a chute, but oh well. Sprint ID is not the monster a lot of people are making it out to be. I have an unrooted, fully stock Optimus S and you couldn't tell Sprint ID was even on the phone unless you look in the app tray. There is a "Clean" ID that adds no extra software that I use. I also use Launcher Pro so the ID button is gone from the dock. As for flashing advertisements, well that's just simply untrue, and the keylogging thing is just paranoia. ID actually makes it a LOT easier to uninstall apps that previously required root to get rid of (e.g. Sprint TV, NASCAR, Football Live, Sprint Navigation, etc.) Those programs aren't even installed unless you select the Sprint ID. On my phone it takes up a whopping 2 MB, and that is simply because I like some of the wallpapers and kept them when I uninstalled various IDs I was trying. All that being said, Most of those IDs have tons of crap in them, and many of the apps are simply trial apps, or links to the Market to download them. However, anything that is installed via ID is very easily uninstalled, and if you go to Manage Applications>All and clear data, Sprint ID only takes up about 400kb of space, which I think is the icon in the app tray. Just my $2.50, so take it as you will.
