Would you recommend purchasing a SGS2 above an HTC One S?

Hi everyone,

I'm buying a new phone this weekend and not really sure what phone would be best.

I've read all the reviews and watched all the YouTube videos.

Would you recommend buying an SGS2, although it's a year old? I love almost everything about the phone, but am weary to buy a phone that will quickly lose support.

However, the HTC One S, along with the obvious removable parts issue, also has a wi-fi calling issue, which if unfixed, renders the phone almost useless in my apartment.

Would love some suggestions. Do you think the SGS2 will continue to be sold over the years, and updated accordingly?

Do you think HTC will fix the wi-fi calling issue, although they've already sent out a fix for it that didn't work?

Thanks to anyone who replies!

They're pretty much on par. One S has a terrible wifi antenna. Screens are almost the same. One S is brighter. More storage with the S2. Cameras are on par. Thought I like the front camera on the One S better. S2 is bigger if that matters. Me personally I would wait for the S3. However if I had to choose between the One S or the S2... S2 all the way. Hope this helps you.

Thanks, Mac!

I'm thinking the same thing.

Though I do love how the One S feels in my hand.

Just seems the S2 is a more versatile piece of equipment

I know, I know. But I want to buy this weekend because phones are free.

Also, the Galaxy S3 doesn't come with a quad-core processor. It comes with the dual-core Snapdragon 4.

I already think the S2 is borderline-too-big, so I imagine the S3 will cross that line for sure.

Thanks for the suggestion, though!

I got my SII from Costco, where they had both it and the One S on display -- both working phones. I was torn, too, until I saw the SII's display. The One may have better resolution, but the display makes the SII the clear choice (I can see the pixel grid on the One -- mainly because of the display layout (PenTile).

Besides, you can add an SD card to the SII.

I had the same issue when my BlackBerry was long overdue for retirement. I looked and played around with both phones. With ICS, the S2 doesn't feel dated despite it being out for as long as it has been.

Storage was a big issue with me as well as the display quality. While the S2 may have a lower resolution screen compared with the HTC One S, it simply looked far better and photos were amazing.

I'm happy with my choice, dropped in a 32gb Class 10 MicroSD card and rarely found a reason to carry my point & shoot camera any longer.

Thanks! Went with the S2. I'm using the Apex browser too, wich gives me a better ICS experience.

Just left the T-mobile store. The rep told me for the first month after release it's only avaiable for new contract/renew contract only. You can't buy it out right till a month later.

Good choice! I have the exact setup on my S2. Using Apex. Plan on getting the S3 today.
