Would you say.....Thunderbolt is another Evo

That's how I look at it. The Thunderbolt is an Evo for Verizon and the Bionic is the second version of the DroidX. Both great devices.

I dont think the Bionic is the second version of the Droid X. Moto and Verizon did not have a problem rolling out the Droid 2. While Bionic is better then the X I think when the X's replacement rolls out it will be call the Droid X2 just because of the huge amount of sells that Droid X brought Verizon, just like the original Droid.

but......I could be completely wrong as well! :p

While they're similar in form factor and some features and likely in basic functionality, of course they're different phones.

THEY ARE SEPARATED BY ABOUT 9-10 MONTHS IN TERMS OF AVAILABILITY.

If the Bionic as with the DX has an eFuse chip ... I won't buy one. I've had the DX since the day it was released and I thought I could deal with the hardware being DRM'd ... frankly I can't. It bothers me on a visceral level.

I think I'll be going for the Thunderbolt when it comes out. Android doesn't do SMP and rumors of when it will do not fill me with joy. Also, I've found the Blur just sucks. The widgets are horrible, the hacking they did to the SMS/MMS app (conversation) broke 2 of the utils I love and took a month to get resolved and a whole host of other stuff.

I think unless HTC starts screwing the pooch ... I'll give them a shot.

For those that complain about there bing SLCD and not SAMOLED. My wife has and Droin Inc and I have the Droid X and she's always complaining that she can't see her screen when outside in bright sunlight and I never have any problem. Super AMOLED is not all it's claimed to be, at least for all around use.

There are some similarities, and to be honest I'm pretty underwhelmed by the specs. Back when I bought my Fascinate I was actually wishing there was an Evo like phone on Verizon. If this had come out last year, I would have bought in in a heartbeat, now though it seems like an also ran. Yeah so the CPU is a newer version, it still isn't an extremely significant upgrade, the extra memory is nice, but I doubt you can see any real world benefit from it, maybe in a benchmark.

TB is definitely better, but its also 3/4 of a year newer. If I am not mistaken, the OG Droid was closer to the Evo in terms of when it was released and look at THOSE differences...not to take anything away from the OG Droid.

I will never buy a device with Blur on it...horrible to look at. That said, I can do whatever I want with my rooted Evo so I don't have much to complain about.

The Droid Inc has a regular AMOLED screen, not a Super AMOLED screen. Big difference.

This. The real reason they're not going with an SAMOLED is because of availability. The AMOLED screen played hell with the Dinc's release, and was the sole reason the Dinc was back-ordered for so long.

Its fair to say the thunderbolts design was a direct influence of the evo. But it is a better phone more ram better audio newer 2nd gen snapdragon personaly I'm holding out till June hopefully HTC&sprint keep the evo line going and it only gets better we shall see..

I'm kinda looking at the TB as an updated Evo. I would love to get one but my contract won't be up for a long time and I'm happy with my inc until then.

I'm going for the Thunderbolt or a later HTC model. Currently using Droid X, but will be happy to switched to a more open and accessible device. I'm sure the Bionic will be locked down harder than the X. Plus Sense is much smoother in operation than blur.

Agree brotha they should have released the atrix for big red that would have been the deal breaker

This is how I view it as well. Slightly refreshed EVO for VZW. That is not really a knock on it IMO, the EVO and now the TB are great devices.

Yup, totally a refreshed evo. Just like the playstation 3 is a refreshed ps2, the 360 is a refreshed xbox, and the wii....well wait, I'm not going there.

NO, Not an Evo

The Thunderbolt is like and Evo, but not in every way. It is SLIGHTLY upped in specs...

And to be honest, for those that are saying its like an upgrade to the Evo or what the NEXT Evo should be. No.

I own an Evo and would be pretty upset if the "next Evo" had these specs. The Evo came out 6 months ago and is still a FANTASTIC handset that is up to the speed of technology and still considered one of the best devices out. Thunderbolt's not out, so you cant even put it in the race yet.

My next Evo better wow me as much as my first Evo did ;):p

PS. NO hate whatsoever to the VZ folks, just giving my 2 cents.

Im definitely getting the TB

Sense is better then MotoBlur on the Bionic.

Ive seen the Droid X and its nothing to get excited over.
