I mean can someone tell me what Samsung outside great screen quality has done well in high end cell market?

..
mid to late 2011 and beyond Samsung will be the Rolls Royce of Android handsets. They are about to give all the other manufacturers a schooling on how to build a high end smartphone.

People may laugh at that statement and all I will say is "watch."

lol. nah. Some of them may be a legit beef. Maybe a bad phone, phone gods just not liking you and others may be a little blown out of proportion. You can't tell us though that you didn't buy the Thunderbolt already wearing Samsung colored glasses. You were really gung ho on the Charge from the beginning. The Bolt was at a disadvantage from the start.

Damn right it was lol,,, and all the bugs didnt help its case much. and i did more digging then the average user may. I would admit if i was the only one having these problems but there are threads with enough people stating the same problems that i dont think im exactly imagining things. Either way its my decision in the end and if you love your phones more power to you. At least i gave the TB a shot used it for long enough and contributed enough to the thunderbolt community that i think im entitled to my opinion at this point.

You're definitely not lying. I've seen plenty of XDA people have those issues.

And you're entitled to you opinion for sure lol, I know how much you worked on auto root.

Find one forum that doesn't have people complaining about this or that on any phone and I'll give you different pair of glasses to see correctly. 90% of any forum is going to be complaining. Every phone has issues and quirks and you can bet the Charge will be no different. At least there is the pretty screen though I suppose.

And no doubt to the second part. If you think he worked hard on auto root for the Thunderbolt, go to the Fascinate forums and look at the work he put in there. Adrynalyne and DXc were pretty much the only reason a lot of Fascinate owners didn't chunk their phones out the window.

Will pass on the Charge. Prefer not having physical buttons and love each kickstand. Plus the Charge has less ram.

Samsung makes the best screens...no doubt. But my experience with their phones (Fascinate and Nexus S briefly) were not great. Call quality was bad and touchwiz was just ok. I am truly happy with my thunderbolt and actually not in envy of newer phones.

Honestly, when I pick up my fascinate it feels flimsy. Especially, since I have the extended battery on my thunderbolt. I am probably one of the few people who actually prefers a heavier phone. Though, the biggest reason that I wouldn't switch is the great support from the devs. I can't imagine the charge having nearly the support the thunderbolt has (judging by the lack of excitement on the boards). Also, I am not having any problems with my thunderbolt. I can overclock to 1.5 with no problem. I seem to have gotten lucky because I have gotten a solid unit. That being said, if I was experiencing the problems that droidx was, then I would be leaning towards switching to something else 4g (thus the charge).

Forgive me if I'm wrong but doesn't HTC have much better track record for updating phones and using OTA to push on newer versions of Android OS in comparision to Samsung having GREAT screen quality (they have head start the make TV's lol) but horrible OTA update issues with hugely long way on phones like Fascinate ect. I mean can someone tell me what Samsung outside great screen quality has done well in high end cell market? Most their phones seem to be copying the specs of HTC and sorry but I trust a company who actually cares to update the Android OS OTA in timely manner.

Pretty confident that I have had huge issues with getting a TB without issues myself but right now there is no phone I would trade for. 4G speeds are amazing, weight is not an issue after a few days of use, if you have never used sense before sure I can respect it takes some getting use to. If you are buying a phone simply to mod it all you care about is screen / image quality, processor size, internal memory and build quality. So you are comparing apples to oranges if that is your ONLY concern. Have active HTC phones and Samsung I would never trade the HTC for another brand just for a touch better screen and lose all benefits outside that you gain with both having flaws (Bloatware, Software bugs, Battery undersized) again sure they are valid to compare but with both having great sellling points most consumers are not picking HTC over Samsung because they are the "newest" phones. It is because to most they have great track record in QUALITY of overall phones. You pick which phone best suits you but I would never compare HTC vs Samsung in Android OTA updates of OS because it is like bringing a box wine to a wine drinking party.

NO I would keep the phone from company (HTC) I know will update to Gingerbread in due time and I have ZERO issues outside 2 small software bugs that don't affect the phone working at all.

No from what I understand HTC and Motorola have excellent track records in OTA Samsung is the worst. Samsung is the Huawei of the big companies.

After the debacle that is the Fascinate/GalaxyS I would never own another Samsung phone until they have proven they changed their ways. The Fascinate (also other GS versions) had major known GPS issues among others and Samsung took their sweet time getting out a fix. Not to mention the fact that the Fascinate didnt get Froyo until just recently.

nope charge is 700 as my TB was 700 so they are the same cost, subsidy doesnt count in my eyes as that is verizon's doing

Where did you pay $700 for the Tbolt? I got mine from Verizon on launch day. It was $599 + tax so it ended up being $645. It's now retailing on Verizon's site for $570.

With the Droid Charge having a $700 retail price, that comes to $756 using the same tax percentage.

I do miss the amoled screen from my Incredible, but I wouldn't trade that to get the Charge. They're just now getting Froyo on the Fascinate, almost 8 months after the phone released. When it came out Samsung said they'd have Froyo on all there Galaxy S phones (overseas & in the USA) by November. My Incredible got it 3-4 months after release (not bad considering they released Froyo to OEMs around the same time as the Inc. released.

Another thing to look at is alot of reviewers are reporting battery life about the same or worse than the Tbolt, and it's Quadrant score hasn't been able to hit 1100. My Incredible can get mid 1300s with a first gen Snapdragon. Some are saying that Quadrant can't take advantage of the Charge's true potential. But, if that's true, how is the Galaxy S2 getting around 3500 using the same app? To me, the Charge amounts to a pretty paper weight.

As far as the issues with the Thunderbolt, we didn't find out about those until after it released. Do you really think that the Charge will release bug free? Has any smartphone ever released bug free? My Tbolt is a known quantity. I have had very few issues with it. Trading to the Charge only means opening myself up to a whole new set of issues. And Samsung isn't known for being great with updates, be it bug fixes or OS.

Just my $.02.

i think it will have tons of bugs,I just want a phone im happy with. the froyo thing to me was not a big deal. My fascinate made me way happier than my DX with froyo ever did. I dont buy a phone to sit around and wait and wonder about updates. quadrant scores please did you really bring those up, when then mean better everyday usage then we can talk scores.

and i got the TB from best buy a couple weeks ago. So on top of not being happy with the phone now i got ripped off. Not cool i feel double ripped off now. Anyway im done with this battle, Enjoy your TB's and i will continue to support you guys with rooting and anything else i can help out with. But for me im moving on to the Charge and then the GS2.

Samsung was by far the worst phone I have ever owned. I have owned the OG, Inc, Fascinate and now the TB. Although the TB is not perfect, it blows the Fascinate away! GPS is very important to me and I use it on a daily basis. Samsung has a major issue with this for some reason. The call reception is horrible, blue tooth never worked, the screen constantly locked up and the battery sucked also. As for OTA's.....nonexistent! I went through several Fascinates, all with the same issues. Never again will I own a Samsung phone! At the end of the day, the Charge will be just another POS Samsung phone rolled in sugar. I will stick to their Plazma TV's......got 4 of them and love'em!

Ok lets step away from phones, i think people do not see the real benefit besides the way OLED screens look sure the contrast ratios are great but here is the big picture.
OLED's will be much much cheaper to make than Plasma or LCD screens and as far as financially and enviromently friendly they will be leaps and bounds ahead. within then next few yrs they will be dominating lighting and tv's. Not because of the looks but because of the way displays are made and the fact that they will consume only a quarter of what plasmas and LCD's do.

How do i know this because i work on the development team that designs the molecules and structures. Before you say oh well he works for samsung, I DON'T. Samsung purches the technology from us as many other phone companys will be doing. I know there is all this, I dont like or need OLED screens but really this is the direction screens are going. there are all these great technologys such as SLCD but they are hitting their peaks, while OLED technology is in its infancy what samsung is letting out is early adaptor technology.

Many of you will say , well OLED is over saturated or its not as clear...blah blah blah... but that has nothing to do with the molecules thats the screen structures and and the manufacturer option. Colors can be manipulated as seen fit and the way screen matrixes can be changed.

So the point is that OLED technology is not only flashy but in the long run as more factories pop up and more companies can refine the deposition methods OLED screens will become cheaper and more widespread. You will see them in everyday lighting, industrial and domestic. they will also change the way you use lighting. Your windows will be able to be your lighting or even your TV's , Cell phones will become foldable or you will be able to wear OLEDs'

here are some examples of OLED technologies

I am growing to love my TB more and more everyday. I love the kickstand! Which is odd because when I first saw it I thought it was pointless but I was wrong! It's awesome when u are running pandora. Plus the screen is amazing! So, no charge for me.

I hate TouchWiz, and love HTC. Not to mention giant physical buttons on an otherwise touchscreen device is stupid to me...

I was waiting for a HTC phone like the TB, I had a Samsung i760 and will never own another Sammy again.
