Can't you download the play store on the Kindle fire hd and just get all the Android apps from there?

I don't think they will--Google increases profits with Play, and Amazon with any of their services, but I don't think Windows has that same motive to reduce costs.The missing piece is pricing.
If Microsoft gives these away like Google and Amazon are doing with their hardware, I fully expect Microsoft to own this market.

I get that A'zon wants people to buy Kindles, but with 1.3 million Android devices being activated every day - 70,000 tablets - they are punishing their customers who are paying for Prime for not buying their store dongle device.
