Purchased a brand new LG G4 and have it all set up with Nova launcher. Very pleased with the phone and just discovered something odd!

During setup, I set a pattern for my screen lock. Picked the phone up to find I didn't need to unlock it. Checked in settings and see that Swipe is set. I went to establish my pattern, entered it twice and the selected his content on lock screen (my preference). Still not working, it goes right back to Swipe to unlock.

What is going on???? Driving me crazy!

Is Smart Lock on? How long are you waiting while the phone is asleep before you try waking it again? If it's only a few seconds, maybe you're still within the "Automatically Lock" timeout window.

Thank you for the reply, as you can see from the above screen capture the Smart Lock option is not even highlighted as being an active field. You'll notice that my lock is set at swipe, and it remains that way even after going through the steps of setting up a pattern lock. After completing the pattern lock steps, the screen goes back to show just what is in the screen capture. This is driving me insane

What about the "Automatically Lock" setting? There should be an option somewhere (either in the Display or Security menu) to set how long the phone waits after the screen turns off before the phone locks automatically again.

To test things, I have activated the "Lock Instantly w/ Power Button" and lock pattern isn't provided to unlock. The phone opens upon "Swipe."

I have had several Android phones and I'm familiar enough to set a lock format, but this particular device seems to be acting incorrectly.

I have no idea what to do. AT&T store is not sure how to resolve this. I need someone that is an Android Professor, if there is such a thing.

I just got off the phone with tech support (AT&T). I got lucky and ended up with a very nice lady that knew her way around the Android platform very well. All efforts failed.

She checked my imei number and found I still had 81 days left on my warranty! They are sending a replacement!!! HOW COOL IS THAT!?!?

That's great! Usually this kind of thing happens exactly one day after the warranty has expired.:p

uhhmm... what happens when you tap the first entree...Select screen lock.. what shows up there?

In the original post, the OP says "Checked in settings and see that Swipe is set. I went to establish my pattern, entered it twice and the selected his content on lock screen (my preference). Still not working, it goes right back to Swipe to unlock." So it sounds like even though he tapped Select Screen Lock and created a pattern, it still shows Swipe when he goes back to the menu.

Correct. The Tech Support person I got couldn't figure it out and since it all began after I updated to 6.0,. I got the warranty exchange. It should be delivered today.

I also have the Galaxy S7, but the screen size and camera make the LG G4 my preferred device! Crazy good screen and camera!
