x3 telephoto lens not being used!

I've just got my new P20 pro and the camera is good. B&W lens is amazing!
But the x3 telephoto is not activating when I hit x3 in the app. So it's just using the main lens/sensor and zooming in. Anyone else had this? Fixed this?

To test this in x1 I covered that lens. Then hit x3 and it is still the same lens. The other uncovered lens is not being called into use.

I've tried open camera but can't find a way to switch sensors/lens.

HELP! Only bought this phone for cameras. Otherwise s9 was choice .

It will only use the “long” lens under ideal lighting conditions. That lens, at “f2.4” and such a little sensor is slow.

Interesting test, just tried it in morning sunlight and it used 2 different lenses under these conditions. The new 5x zoom setting also used the Tele
