Xbox 360 controller with shield tablet...

Basically the controller (wireless, using a Microsoft PC receiver I had lying around hooked up to a usb2go cable) works great in just about all controller friendly games I have tried...

Except Trine 2. I get nothing from T2. The game pad mapper fires up if I hold the start button down... And it lets me drop controls on the screen and identifies which buttons they are... But still nothing when I try to play it.

I know the nvidia controller is excellent but its also expensive and I have a lot of 360 controllers not being used, was hoping for some multiplayer trine action...

When you drop the menu down when you hold start try tapping the cloud with the green down arrow. You can download controller mapping that someone else set up. With any luck, someone else has figured it out and you get to reap the benefits.

No root needed. From what I had read the wireless hookup was a bit more iffy than wired... but I didn't do anything special and it worked on every game with controller support that I tried except Trine2, which I gather was made in order exclusively for the shield tablet so maybe they also made it exclusive for the shield controller.

There are a few quirks like the controller light doesn't show as being connected as player 1 (or 2-4) like it does when connected to a 360 or even PC. It just flashes constantly as if it were searching for a connection... But it works all the same.

I haven't tried it with GRID. I live in the east coast and cannot get a reliable enough connection for GRID. I got as far as the loading screen, once a minute into the starting video for Brutal Legend, but it invariably times out and crashes. So I can't answer that. I am going to Vegas next week, will see if it is any better there (not holding out hopes for hotel internet tho).

I have tried downloading stuff, there is nothing available for Trine 2.

I live on the east coast and Grid plays beautifully. There are a couple of hurdles you have to pass before grid plays smoothly. Your internet is not fast enough, You are using 2.4 ghz band instead of the less crowed 5 ghz band, or your isp has a proxy.

When you are loading a game when you haven't used grid game service it should go through a test before it even starts loading. There it should tell you what's wrong.

To test it go on late at night with no one on your internet, with your pc off (basically anything that has wifi should be disconnected). If it works then, that shows that your internet speeds probably need to be upgraded.

They always start then partway in give me a message about network interference. I am using a uverse 2wire router. Afraid it is 2.4 only. I had a 5ghz router lying around but can't find the a.c. adapter for it may experiment later.

Anyway I got far enough into Overlord2 to verify the 360 controller worked fine.

I do have a wireless tv box on the network that may play a role...

Can you post a link to that thingy you need to hookup to shield to use wireless 360 receiver? I am not sure what I need to buy.

Hey anyone got any ideas as to if the Steam controller is going to work. I'm guessing that if the xbox 360 does, then the Steam controller is also going to work.

Anyone figured out what wireless the Steam Controller is going to use?
