Xoom is is NICE!, But $800 plus aint NICE!

Sure, but Verizon had their grubby mitts and wanted exclusivity for a bit. After all, the more people that buy the WiFi version means there's less that by the 3G version.

I agree but they should have did what Apple did. Release the Wifi version and then a month later release the AT&T 3G version. You don't start out the gate with the most expensive version of the device.

People keep complaining about the price, but are forgetting that XOOM is a premium tablet. Mot wanted to establish themselves as the best tablet on the market. IMHO, they accomplished that. Now they need to get the media to understand that.

For the people who continue to complain about price, I have a question:
Do you also go into a Cadillac dealer to shout that their prices are too high and a Toyota Camry sells for half the price down the street?

The XOOM is the most premium tablet on the market today, providing a higher performance core and more peripherals than any other offering, bar none. And if you are going after the premium market, you better darn well have at least 3G, not just WiFi.

Mot has made a lot of marketing mistakes, but price and the decision to go with 3G first... IMHO... were good marketing decisions.

You don't become premium just because you slap a higher price tag on it. As a new entrant to the market you AT LEAST need competitive pricing with the current market leaders. You don't come in and with a higher price tag, claim it's premium and don't show users why it's so great. Because right now, it does nothing that the iPad doesn't do. Period.

If I bought a Cadillac, the dealer wouldn't tell me to ship the car back for a week because "we forgot to install the leather seats"

why do people keep comparing tablets to other things that mostly have nothing to to with tech, non tech isn't marketed same as tech, might as well be comparing it to a meal or a trip.

Ok for the people that believe the tap is somehow going to be perceived as the king tablet, be real, most people think ipad is the best, not to mention the first tablet on the market, why would someone think all of the sudden that moto out of nowhere started to make the best tablet? because of the price? of course not.

Apple does one thing right and that is marketing, they got a great brand that has a great tab, at a great price, with great apps, easy to use and they show that on their ads, plus they got that stupid little elevator music that kinda hypnotizes you while you hear the words magical and unicorns running in the background (ok that last part I made up). You get my point, you don't arrive late at a contest and claim you won in your first move right? I feel thats what moto is doing. Now look at the ipad 2 with its dual core, cameras, gyros, cool cover, thin durable body etc etc. what can xoom offer that ipad 2 cant? sure you can say android and expandable memory, but only the second one people are really going to recognize as a better spec. Lets face it, and I can say this because I have the xoom, its laggy, the market crashes a lot, some old widgets crash like Pandora, it lacks optimized apps. yes this will get better in time but we are in the now not in tomorrow.

well that rant was kinda all over the place but its late and thats what I do when its late. hope that 539 price is right, then all this bickering will go away. at that price we got a real competitor to the ipad2 and boy do I want android to win that competition, but I guess we will have to see in 2 years wont we?
