Got Home and noticed my Xoom had an update waiting for me :D ...... Well went through everything and downloaded it and got the little android with the Spinning Orb in his chest, the it went to the android on his back with a Red Triangle over his dead body, now I it wont reboot :'( ..... Called MOTO and waited on hold for 30 mins they went through all the usual steps, then said I have to send it in to be fixed and it would take 5 days  .... I'm Not Happy.... So now it's stuck on the Dual Core Screen till they get it and there's no way to turn it off.... I hope it doesn't ruin my screen:'(

My Wi-Fi Xyboard randomly booted into the black screen with the Motorola "M" logo and wouldn't leave the screen. I could dim the screen but that was about it. I contacted Motorola and their troubleshooting steps led to nothing so they sent me a box. Within 5 minutes of hanging up, I messed with the button combinations (Volume Up/Down and Power) and ended up getting my tablet to reboot itself. I wish I remembered the steps, but I honestly have no idea how I did it. Give it a try and mess around with the buttons. It definitely wasn't the standard procedure given to us by Motorola but it worked.

You can fix it your self. Just flash the image using adb. There are plenty of stuff on this

Same thing happened to me! I have even tried to do a hard reset using the Power/Volume buttons but in the end the same result: the Motorola logo appearing endlessly on the screen and nothing else going on.

HOWEVER reading about flashing and resetting in several forums, I tried removing the SDCard before trying yet again to hard resetting and PRESTO: it worked!

It scared the bejesus out of me but my tablet is fully working again and the 4.0.4 update seems to be working fine.

Hope this helps!

EUREKA!!!! It worked just in time to thanks for the help I didn't even think about that and I've read that about the SD card.....but what gets me is moto never asked me if I had removed my card go figure. Thanks icespedes :D

Has anybody been able to update to 4.0.4? I have gotten the message a few times that there is an update available for this, but every time it tries to install the update it craps out about halfway through. I get the android bot with the front open and some squiggly lines, then the squiggly lines turn into a triangle sign with an exclamation point. It freezes the tablet, and I have to hold the power button to reboot. Any ideas?

I have the same problem even with the SD card pulled out. I have to hold the power and volume button to get it to reboot. Stock all the way and would rather not have to send it in to Motorola. Any insight would be appreciated.

To get the ota update your xooms need to b 100% stock no missing apps no root. If u believe its bricked first get into stock recovery factory rest then try to reboot. If that fails. Then just sbf back to stock then update.

I am stock, not rooted (not sure what you mean by missing apps). It just fails every time I try to install 4.0.4 OTA. New to Android, only had the Xoom for a month.

Yeah, same here on stock Android and haven't removed any stock apps. I've tried installing it like 3 times, and it stops about halfway through and freezes the tablet. I've never had to do the power+volume up trick, though. I just hold the power button down, and it restarts.
