Yahoo Finance slams the HTC One

"The HTC One is made in fancy metal, and it looks like it could have been carved from one piece. As it turns out, it is not. After only hours of using it, in my case, the front plate covering one of the two speakers came off."

I have NEVER heard of this happening to anybody. What was this guy doing to his phone? Beating it against the wall? He doesn't deserve his job.

Also, this raises a big red flag:

"The HTC One feels terrible in the hand. It's too big and, more importantly, extremely slippery."

- Yet he has no problem with the S4 size

"However, in a simple blind test, the Samsung Galaxy feels pretty good in the hand."

I really think he must be on somebody's payroll.

I have GN and without a case on it the phone is very slippery, but it didn't stop me from buying it.

I went into a AT&T store today to look at the S4 and One, I didn't really mess with the software too much, I just wanted to get a hand feel on both of them. The S4 felt good in the hand and not to big or that slippery. The One just didn't feel good in my hand at all, of course it feels like a solid phone and does look great! But it just didn't feel good in my hand, something about were the curved back meets the sides just doesn't work for me.

In other words I guess I'm 2 in a million LOL.

Don't tell me you don't know how to take a picture on the One. Please.

The vast majority of HTC reviews from respected sites are moderately positive to mostly positive. This guys opinion is an outlier. While the iFixit score matters somewhat, the vast majority of people will not attempt to repair their own device should it break.

Seems like a simple typo, but that's not the kind of mistake a competent tech writer makes. Leave it to the finance clods to make an entire company look like crap.

801.11ac is real. It's the newest WiFi standard. edit: (802.11ac... 802... not 801)

And just because I'm bored on a Saturday morning, I dropped about 20 comments there. I think maybe we had some other AC folks doing the same because reading some of those I was laughing my balls off! But it's a shill column. A ton of the negative "comments" about HTC there are written in the same voice (read: "Dave", your tech support guy from New Delhi and "Lisa" your customer service agent from Bangalore) and there is one comment/reply thread that has every one of them in chronological order. I thought Samsung wasn't paying people to trash HTC anymore? Hmm.......

I find it interesting that even though it is the consensous opinion that this reviewer is an *****, it still generates 3 pages of posts! LOL! Sounds like this guy actually got under someones skin here!
When will HTC One owners realize the One is a great device and they don't have to justify to ANYONE buying it! After comparing the One and the S4 I ended up purchasing the S4, but that doesn't mean I don't have the inteligence to realize that the One is a great phone, it just means the S4 will work out better for me personally! I shouldn't have to justify my decision to you and you shouldn't have to justify your decision to me or anyone else!
Personally, I don't care which phone sells more, that really isn't a true measure of a phones quality, it's how it works for me and makes my life easier that I measure the true success of any purchase that I make, be it a TV, vehicle, tool, phone or what ever!

Be happy with your phone and don't worry about anyone else!

I read one paragraph of this "review" and my eyes threw up. He sounds like someone who sits in his basement and writes biased reviews on everything he doesn't like to his blog.

Enough bad jokes, but he sounds like Samsung got to him. After reading, I can't recommend it because it might break if you drop it, or something along those lines, I stopped. Wow, you mean something that has glass and delicate parts inside might break if I drop it?!?! I thought if you drop anything on concrete or a tile floor it "may" break, but it doesn't mean the product is junk.

I do agree that One is cheaply made. I've already seen speaker grills coming off and many other QA issues.

And I also somewhat agree about reliability of the phone. I have N4 now and while built quality is great, glass back is not practical at all. I wanna swich to S4 because I know one day very soon my N4 will fall and crack.

I also have Gnex which has fallen many times with zero issues....no case too. That what i call a durable phone.
