Yahoo mail issues?

I have had no problems, none, with the yahoo app. I just deleted out the yahoo account from the stock email icon, because it rang alarms, "failure to sign in to yahoo" repeatedly, no matter what I did. Now, if I do click on that stock email app, it just has a link, "Set up account".

But, using the yahoo app, no problems, and it does have many more features than the stock email app had anyway. good luck.

I hesitated using the yahoo app because of the reviews on the play store but since last week I have started using the yahoo app and I haven't had any more issues.

Thanks! This worked on my T-Mobile Galaxy S6! Changing the incoming and outgoing servers from Samsung to Yahoo.

I did have the same issue and even went into a T-Mobile store and was advised to use the Yahoo Mail app, which I hate.

So, this is what I did to fix the issue.

1. Go into Mail
2. click settings
3. Select your Yahoo Mail
4. scolled down to incoming server & set the server to imap.mail.yahoo.com (it was orginally set to Samsung.imap.mail.yahoo.com)
5. outgoing server & set the server to smtp.mail.yahoo.com (it was orginally set to Samsung.smtp.mail.yahoo.com)
that was it removed the "Samsung." and now NO more prompts asking me to sign in.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!! This worked on my Tmobile Galaxy S6!

"So I came across this thread as I was experiencing the same issue.

I solved it!!! You must go into your account setting on a desktop computer and make sure your phone number is verified. Yahoo will send you a text message with a code to verify your phone number. Follow the link on your phone or enter it in on your browser and then follow the prompts. Once completed I then selected the error message on my phone and I re-entered my password (for the thousandth time!) and VIOLA! It worked! We will see what happens in the next few days. Mind you I was receiving the error message about 10-15 times a day for about 2 weeks.

Hope this works for you!"

I just had this issue on my Galaxy S6 and recently had verified my Yahoo account mobile number. When I verified the number, I had done it on my phone and not on my desktop. Once I saw this thread, although it's originally for an Galaxy S3, I thought I'd give it a shot. I ended up using my desktop to login to my Yahoo account and remove my mobile number verification. I then re-added my mobile number using my desktop. It sent me a text message verification code that I entered on my desktop. Once I did that, I removed the email account from the stock email android app and tried re-adding my Yahoo mail account to it. Once I did that, bam, it worked! Thank you!!!! :)

Recently for no apparent reason, I am getting error messages reporting that Yahoo sign in has failed. I am using stock rom rooted with stock mail app. I know the password is correct and have changed it several times and re-entered it several times and appears correct on the ingoing and outgoing set-up pages. Funny thing is that it appears to repair all by itself and will work flawlessly for a period of time.

Any ideas or suggetions? I would prefer to continue to use this app.

You have to log in through yahoo through the actual website and there is a setting that you change to allow other devices to login with less security. You may even see an email from yahoo as I did that notified you that they blocked a device that tried to log in with a less secure method or an unknown device. Through that email as well you can get to your yahoo settings and find that switch to allow other devices such as your phone to login with less security. Yahoo is extra secure.... What a hassle haha
