T-Mobile starts pushing software update for Galaxy Note 7 that limits battery charge to 60%

T- Mobile is sending out the update today to limit the charge. Can someone please help me with how to prevent the update on a non rooted phone?

Unless rooted, I think this update will be hard to circumvent with current methods. Samsung and carriers want this over with.

How to prevent the update? You can't, it's a system update that bypasses your permissions.

If you do your leg work for the particular app you need to disable updates before it installs, you won't need to be rooted. If the update is automatically installed before you do your leg work then you'll have to root and flash a ROM to get 100% battery back.

I doubt that will even fully work. I had the ATT version, and I had all updates disabled, etc. They were able to push the update overnight to enable the green battery icon.

I just noticed...It was a coincidence that my charge was at 60% exactly. I haven't received an update to cap my battery charge. Lol

The next step is going to be IMEI code blocking. They are taking the methodical approach. Plenty of warning and publicity the device is unsafe, so no concern of liability for blocking them at some point.

Great device killed by a desire to be thin. Just a half MM more case size, probably no issues.
