It was never said anywhere that the old 4G wouldn't work. When I got my Evo 4G way back when, it was obvious that the phone would have both a WiMAX antenna as well as a 3G CDMA antenna. No problem.
Sprint has exclusively branded their WiMAX as '4G'. Not 4G WiMAX. When talking about their LTE rollout, they call it the LTE rollout. All literature for this damned phone says 4G LTE which I'm pretty certain any reasonable person could interpret as being both WiMAX and LTE. Why would I assume that they would just throw away their entire 4G WiMAX network? Why would they not keep it active in order to have greater service areas for their customers?
I could care less if some people who want to boost their own self-esteem want to try to call me stupid. Whatever. My intention was to have a post somewhere.. ANYWHERE that would actually say this explicitly about this phone. Maybe help someone else not get surprised by their new phone having unusuable data speeds out the gate. I'm not going to pitch the phone, but it will be sitting on my coffee table until I can actually recieve data with it. The S2 had issues, but it damnsure had 4G service everywhere I went.
