I’ll wait for the conflicting comments to arrive lambasting Samsung for including such an unsightly feature into the phone (despite the proximity sensor behaving like a normal pixel until it is being used).

An all-screen design has to come at a cost...nothing is perfect and different features/designs appeal to different people. Understand that sentence and the world of smartphones and their pros/cons will make a lot more sense.
