Re. Samsung Galaxy A71. Android 12

Ran Device Care after installing Beats app from Play Store. 1 Threat found, 1 malware app, Your Phone Companion. Cannot be Uninstall? Is this malware?
Under Advanced features he turn off Link to Windows. Under Accessible, Installed apps, turn off 'Your Phone Companion', disabled app. Is this malware? Remove?

Yes built into Device Care that came with phone. According to Issue history of ‘Your Phone Companion’ Malware Issue detected 2022-12-10

I have (1) uninstall Beats app, but didnt get rid of ‘Your Phone Companion. (2j run Device Care to fix/uninstall (3) restarted phone and (4) clear partition cache..Nothing worked. Still cimes up on Device Care scan as Malware

Is this MS Android safe to keep on phone if disabled?

This is what we call a "false positive".

It's completely safe. Stop trying to get rid of it, because you can't. It's preinstalled by Samsung.

The problem here is that you activated McAffee... it's trash.

Although I do find it pretty funny that Samsung's preinstalled crapware is detecting it's preinstalled bloatware as malware lol. Way to go Sammy!

As fuzzylumpkin said, it's a false positive. Remember that antivirus apps will also alert the user to apps that aren't necessarily malware, but rather might be considered adware. Your Phone Companion is a legacy app from Microsoft (replaced by Link to Windows), and one of its roles was to advertise certain Microsoft apps:

Since it's a legacy app, that's why it's no longer in the Play Store.
