Yeah but I still want the ota update and I followed post 1 and it keeps saying error to verify. My device status is saying normal and I put the zip file on to the external storage ( not in the folder ) and still no luck ... Does anyone have a new ota zip file I could download ?!

yes you can and no you dont have to be rooted and no it wont root your phone

but if necessary I can unroot tonight and give it a try.

This I like

Dozens upon dozens of times did I unroot, root, unroot again and again to take one for the team when I was an Ambassador. My Epic 4g days saw more Odin action than I care to remember

Are you actually reading any of the posts here, because you keep asking questions that have already been answered.

And you don't need another OTA zip. It would be the same. I suggest you delete the file and then try downloading it again. With all of the people downloading it, you probably didn't get a complete file. That can happen with big files when Internet traffic is heavy.

I deleted the zip file and downloaded it again but it keeps on giving me an error .. (Went I went into stock recovery)

I actually did download the zip file and it says fail to verify what does that mean!?

See post #23. Check those things I asked Hollywood to check and let me know what you find.

Brrooklyn, we're trying to help, but you're not given us anything to go on. PLEASE check post 23 and tell me everything I asked for there. Without data, we're just guessing. And no, the file in post #1 will not root your device.

I followed all the giving instructions u guys gave me placed onto the external sd card downloaded multiple times the zip file but it keeps on saying error when I'm in boot mode (stock recovery)

Brooklyn, I'm losing patience. I've asked you twice to read post #23 and respond to the questions in that post. Until you do that, there's nothing more anyone can do for you. Do you think I can see what's on your phone from hundreds of miles away? You need to put a little effort into this, too, or else just give up and wait for the OTA.

My device is rooted, so at the moment I can't try what's in the first post, but if necessary I can unroot tonight and give it a try.

Let's go back to the beginning: Is your phone currently working, on the prior version of the software? If so, go to Settings / About device, and tell me what the last three characters of the Build Number and Baseband are.
From that screen, tap on Status. What does it say at the very bottom, for Device status?
Has your phone ever been rooted?
Is the update file in the top level of your SD card, or in a folder? If it's in a folder, try putting it at the top level instead.





MC, did you follow post #1?

My build last 3 digits is: MB1

Base band : MB1

And it's it's on the top level of the external sd card

He PM'ed me. And sent me pics of the recovery failure. I gave him the link to freeza's thread on xda. Told him to find section on stock update. Hopoefully he will read it.
