I have Archos 10.1 16 GB tablet running Android 2.2. I have two questions.

Question #1
I installed gApps4Archos2.apk as well. Market works fine, but YouTube does not work. I even tried to uninstall it so that can I try installing again directly from Market, but the Uninstall button is dimmed for YouTube.

I called Archos tech support, and here is what they are telling me, the only way to uninstall YouTube is to uninstall Market, i.e. gApps4Archos2.apk. Then, I will lose Market and there is no way to get YouTube back again. The tech support says this is an issue with Google and they can't do anything about it. I don't know how far this is true. In any case, is there a way to uninstall YouTube, that is not working in my Archos, without uninstalling Market altogether?

Question #2
From Market I searched for Yahoo Mail app, but it is not there. I know there is an app because I have it installed in my Android phone. But, when I search for it from Archos, Yahoo Mail app does not show up. I can see some other Yahoo apps that I am not interested in, but the Yahoo Mail app is no where to be found.

Thanks for any useful suggestion in advance. Thank you...

Try the archos fan forums. There is a lot of good information there. There is a new apk(v4) for the gen8 for the market. From what I hear, it works a lot better with the device and fixes the YouTube issue. Xda developers also has a section for the gen8 archos tablets. Check that out also. Good luck. I get my 101 on Monday :)

Here is what you need to do:

1. Download Android Terminal Emulator from the Market and open it
2. Type in the following in Terminal Emulator "rm /data/test/froyo/system/app/YouTube.apk" (there is a space after rm) then hit return.
3. Back out of Terminal Emulator and reboot.
4. Down load the YouTube app from market.

You should be up and working now.
