Z500M not happy with sd card

I just got this tablet for the holidays, and it is NOT happy with the Samsung micro SD card that is had in my previous (Samsung) tablet. It is a 64GB SDXC. The tablet was able to recognize it about half the time, and the tablet generally behaved wonkily. As soon as I turned off the tablet and removed the card, it's fine.

Any ideas? As a postscript, I realize that the card is now useless except for storing media. Can't move apps there, etc. (Thanks, android!)
