Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems

Also just an update. I took a razor blade to it this morning and basically extended our maybe 2cm from the notch and now the proximity sensor is functioning fine. So I can safely say that the Zagg protector was causing the problem.

I did the same thing this morning with an exacto knife. I did notice a difference in performance. I'm going to email zagg and report the problem.

How far away do you have to move the phone from your face for the screen to come on? I'm extending my arm almost straight before it comes on. Is this normal?

Same issue here. Best Buy put on my Zagg HD and my screen acts totally weird. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it's off.

I was having problems with my Zagg as well. In addition to the cut-out not being quiet right, I assume, the cutout was a magnet for pocket lint, dust, finger grease and such that would get caught in the little "U" cutout and mess the sensor up.

I just used a pair of tiny scissors my wife has in her makeup stuff to make the cutout bigger and, sense then (get it?) I've had no problems.

Anyone try a ghost armor screen protector yet? I loved the one I had on my Evo 3D, but haven't tried it yet for the EVOLTE. At this point I'm assuming all screen protectors will cause the same problem with this phone's p sensor.

I've got the Zagg "Dry Install" shield on mine, and no sensor problems (was sold and installed by Sprint.

Nope, Steinheil Ultra Crystal. Best one the market. Smooth like glass and completely clear, unlike the rubbery, orange peel Zagg garbage. Don't understand how anyone still uses their trash with the quality of the alternatives on the market.

Thanks, but I've read that a bunch of people are having the p issue with those too. For those not having the issue, they probably weren't having an issue with the Zagg either. All or none I guess. I'm still mystified by the lack of consistency with the p sensor issue. Mine is working perfectly now with no protector, but every protector I've tried screws it up.

I'm guessing some sensors/settings are more sensitive than others so much so that even the slightest interference can mess it up.

There are very few having issues with the Ultra Crystal. More are having them with the matte protector. I too think its a sensitivity issue with the phones, but I was speaking more to the protectors themselves. Do yourself a favor and ditch the Zagg. They're years behind the competition.

Will the sprint store exchange the phone if there is the problem with the proximity sensor?

Well, my Zagg was free from BB, so thats way less than the Competition~ :p

If there really is a problem with the sensor then yes they would, the "problem" is that it may not be the sensor that is causing trouble but the screen protector. You can do a test on the proximity sensor that shows if it is working (search the forums and you can find how to do it)

I understand, but after seeing the difference in quality, I wouldn't let Zagg pay me to use one of their protectors. Downright horrible.

So I got my Evo a couple weeks back from best buy and had a zagg put on right away. Started noticing the proximity problems, researched, tried calibrating, etc, until finally taking it back to BB to return my zagg and the girl there suggested exchanging for another and cutting off the entire top straight across to expose the sensor and front camera, which we did. Still had the problem even with the screen protector entirely off so I decided to take it home and do a factory reset to see if that solved it, which it didn't so I took it back to exchange for a new phone. The new one worked fine out of the box so we decided to install another zagg to see if it still worked, which it did and worked fine until a couple days ago when it suddenly stopped working again!! I didn't really change anything and obviously haven't moved the screen protector or anything, just stopped working all of a sudden. I'm tempted to take it off to see if it's the zagg but i would like to re-install with it cut out if it does... Does anyone know if thats possible? Frustrating!!!

I think it is more than just the proximity sensor. I think the software needs to be recalibrated for this function to work properly. Including the light sensor and accelerometer. My phone worked perfectly when I got it. I put the zagg on had immediate issues. Cutting out a bigger opening fixed it. Weeks later and I'm having issues again....but only in certain situations. Low light seems to be an issue, also I've found making snappy movements helps make the screen function properly. Also last night just to test it out I made twenty phone calls to a tech support line and like clock work on every other phone call the screen immediately blacked out. The other times it worked properly.

You best buy people are truly ridiculous. Do anything to save a buck... Do any of you realize corporate sprint stores recalled all zaggs for the evo lte?? It's defective. Best buy won't tell you that but its 5 bucks cheaper there!!! It's defective. Please hope this kills this thread for good... Call any corporate Sprint and ask the rep

I'm just wondering about the phone going dark, as there is a built in safety feature and that's how the phone was designed. I just don't understand are you pulling the phone down and away from your head and its staying dark fot a pro longed period? If yes, how long is that period.
