Zeus + Infuse = Heaven!!

I so want to switch over to this ROM from Infused. I'm having trouble convincing myself that Zeus has enough features that I will actually want and use. I'm pretty happy with Infused 2.2.3, and am running Go Launcher. So I have a lot of custom options there.

Today will be the first full day with ZEUS, so I have no idea what my battery life will be like. But I am very happy with all the tweaks The Collective built in to 5.2. I can't believe how fast and light the ROM is though. Going thru the app drawer is crazy because it made me realize how much bloatware the stock OS came with. The bluetooth and tethering work fine and that is a must for me. Nothing but goodness so far. ZEUS...FTW!

Ive been on Zeus 5.2 for almost a week and it's been running great, now the GB update is out I'm waiting for Zeus 6 I'm sure it will be even better. :)

Ok so I just installed cm7 yesterday and I'm wandering if anyone could compare Zeus to cm7 which has better performance?

Same thing happened here. I came from the Darky rom V10.4 I believe?!! and I too have issues sending texts with about 4 lines or so. I also can't send pictures. Seems to be a size issue, if I remove a few lines of text it sends. Can't find anything to increase message size in the settings. So far though, the ZEUS rom is really nice. Like the theme (I flashed the aries theme). Battery life is very good, connections to my bluetooth devices aren't a problem. It doesn't have text to speech or at least not on my phone, kinda wish it did. Hey, can't have it all but this rom comes pretty damns close!!:-)

How does this compare with Infused v2.2.3? Only thing keeping me away from Zues is Infused's hacked camera button.

I flashed Zeus build 5 last night. Also flashed the ICS Theme Revamped (On Dope). Pretty smooth transition. Did all my backups (Nandroid, Titanium for my apps). Still not ready to give up Go Launcher. It's the one that (in my opinion) offers the most customization, and I'm pretty comfortable with it. So I'm running that on top of Zeus.

A couple of things I have noticed:

1. The text message issue that folks have commented on. I'm using Go SMS, and if the message that I am sending is longer than 1 screen, I will get an error message indicating that the message was not sent. This is irritating, and did not happen on Infused 2.2.3. I read over at XDA that it may be a modem issue. But there wasn't any mention if that was confirmed, or what modem corrects the issue.

2. Lack of voice to text integration from the Android keyboard.

3. The ability to flash additional themes and add-ons is fantastic.

4. Looking at different "toggles" now. Folks are developing different looks for the various settings (data on/off, wifi on/off, etc...). Some are fantastic looking. Can't get that with stock.

Still to early to tell how the battery life is compared to Infused.

If anybody has a resolution to the text message issue, I would love to hear about it. Zeus forum at XDA is 515 pages.

**Edit**

Just read on XDA that there is indeed a fix, and it involves flashing the UCKI3 modem:

Now I just need to read up on how to flash a modem.

I flashed a new modem while on Zeus ... no problems.

I was on it for one day and then reverted back to stock.

It looked amazing and was blazing fast and smooth as butter. However, just like that "official" UCKL2 Gingerbread update, Zeus also rendered a third or so of my music library as being unknown. It also rendered a lot of my music videos unplayable, which was also what the Infused 2.2 did.

Ultimately, as amazing as all of those ROMs are, they always have some bug that always brings me back to stock. I was really sad about Zeus though, it looked amazing, especially with the Ice Cream Sandwich launcher.

Oh yeah, also, I had the text messaging issue on Zeus, but not the common one that everyone has with the 1 page limit. Mine would do fine going over 1 page, but every time I would receive a text, it would bring that message to the bottom of the thread while the message I sent would be still up at the top. The time stamps were also messed up.

How did you flash it? I've got the zip file for UCKI3. Do you just load it onto your sd card, boot into CWM, and load zip file? Do you need to wipe data and cache? Also, if you need to, can you revert back to your prior modem?

Nevermind. Did some reading over at XDA. Flashed UCLB1 modem, and don't have the issue of the 160 character limit anymore.

time will tell as it relates to battery usage and signal strength.

Having all of these problems with several ROMs indicates that you may need to Odin back to stock and try reflashing one of these ROMs again. Something is definitely wrong but it would be odd if all these ROMs were the culprits especially when so many people are using them without these problems. I have been on various versions of Zeus since the beginning of January. I have not had a single one of these problems. I mention that only because what you are experiencing is not normal. I had some problems with the first couple of versions of this ROM but I fixed all of my issues (I kept boot looping after flashing Zeus build 1 and 2) by using Odin to return to stock and then manually installing each of my apps (not using TiBu) with Zeus build 3. Since moving to build 5 and 5.2 I have not had a single problem.

As for the text messaging problems, has anyone else tried Handcent? That is what I use and I have not had any weird errors or issues with texting. I have sent and received several that were longer than 160 characters and they all go through.

I was on Infused, then I flashed to Dlev's rom.. The difference to me is that Dlevrom has more customization options, it's powerful as hell and super smooth. I feel like this is the rom i'm going to stick with for a while.

If you plan on saving this and using it as a background or in anyway, please thank me at least. I didn't simply 'find' this, I made it!

I flashed back to stock with odin, then I re-rooted, flashed CWM recovery and then flashed Zeus 5.2 in recovery and I haven't had any issues.

When reading the XDA forms (extensively) I noticed that most people do it this way. It seems to be the most logical way of doing things to avoid running into issues.

All Infuse modems individually packed into CWM flashable packages -- added LB1 - xda-developers

Now I just need to read up on how to flash a modem.

The newest build of Zeus (5 V1.5) seems to have that kernal built in to it. Dman may have updated it to include that kernal.

I can understand using a different launcher. I use ADW Launcher and I also use handcent sms. I haven't had any issues with messaging at all, but it might be because the proper kernal is built in now :)

Hey lavman, I had the same issue with zeus. I am running the UCKI3 modem now with no problems. I had flashed several different modems to see which one worked best and that is when I realized I was having an issue sending long texts. UCKI3 also seems to work best for me in my area, Ventura, Ca. K.

So I am on CM7 right now and thinking of switching over to zeus or just a stock rom, I only have one issue and that is that I would like to get my hdmi out connectivity back. I have read that all GB based custom roms dont support this. Does anyone know if this is still true?

I believe the Vagabond ROM is the only GB based Rom that has HDMI out successfully working. I can tell you I tried this the other night (running Zeus v5) and it does not work. But I don't find that to be an issue for me.

Here's a link to the thread over at XDA:

I can't speak about the other roms, but Zeus does not have HDMI. It's not an issue to me because I never used it, even when I was stock and had the capability. Check the forums at XDA and read the features for each of the roms.
