ZTE Blade A3, problem with automatic updates.

Hi,

I have a ZTE Blade A3 and every so often (usually in the middle of the night!) it emits the notification sound and when I look the screen it appears to be downloading updates despite me having disabled automatic updates.

It says Download Manager Google Play and shows a progress bar.

As I said I have already disabled automatic updates, in Google Play settings it is set to Don’t auto-update apps.

Any ideas please?

Welcome to Android Central! That doesn't necessarily mean it's updating an app. Does it say specifically that it's Google Play Music? If so, that could be the Play Music app refreshing its data cache. But that shouldn't give you a notification tone. Google play itself will update automatically even if you have automatic updates off , just apps shouldn't.

To be honest, I'm not sure if that's referring to the Google Play Store app (which, as mustang7757 said, updates on its own in the background), the Google Play Services app (which also auto-updates), or some data related to one of the Google Play apps (like Google Play Music). In any of those cases, the setting to prevent auto-updates of apps does not apply.
