AC Question

Good morning,

The option for "Automatic Time & Date" seems inactive/shaded; I cannot touch or choose it.
Please help. The OS is Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Is there an option for Manual Time/Date at all? Are you saying that Automatic Time/Date is actually selected, or is it greyed out and you can't select it?

Hi B. Diddy,

Thank you for welcoming me, very kind.

The phone is an old ZTE, N861.
Yes, there is an option for manual date and time but only when you disable the automatic date and time.
You see, once you enable automatic, then the manual will be greyed out. Similarly, once you disable automatic, the manual will become active. It's logical.

The option for automatic date and time is already selected AND greyed out, as if it's a one-time choice for ever. That's not logical.

I formatted the phone, and the automatic date and time seems to be already selected... as if it's the default option... and there is no way to disable it.
And since it is selected and greyed out, everything else is also greyed out, including the manual date, the manual time, as well as the daylight savings time. The only things open for editing are the choice of the 12-hour versus 24-hour system, as well as the date format (i.e. choice of day/month/year permutation sequence).

Re: How do I disable "Automatic Time & Date"?

That's odd. Try going to Settings>Security>Device Administrators, and see if anything is listed and checked there besides Android Device Manager. Also try Settings>Security>Clear Credentials.

Hi there,

Thank you very much for the reply.
I checked under Device Administrators and nothing's there except for the Android Device Manager.
The Clear Credentials option is greyed out... as if there are no credentials to clear.
