Running services -- Maps

Every time I look under my running services in the settings tab I see all sorts of things that I don't need running at the time, a few examples are Google Cloud to Device messaging service, Google Messaging Service, HTC Location Services and 2 separate Map things including TrafficAppWidgetUpdateService and NetworkLocationService. I have gone into them and clicked "force stop" and I have clicked "clear data" but they keep coming back.

What are these and why do they keep coming back? Is there an app that can take care of this stuf for me? My phone is rooted if that matters.

If it's a real service, it will keep coming back. For instance if you have location services enabled, they will keep coming back unless you turn off location services. Don't worry about apps you have running in the background anyway. Unless they're using the GPS/Network hardware, you won't see a hit in anything other than memory...and they're actually supposed to be there...
