Verizon: Swapping plans with dad in my plan, but not phone numbers?

Is it possible I can swap my unlimited data plan with my dad (2 GB/mo.) without swapping the phone numbers?

He uses data more than I do, and I think it'd be more beneficial for him if it is possible.

I talked to Verizon last week about this, they said yes it is. They would assign each line a temporary number then put your original numbers on the lines you want. They said that when they remove the original numbers from your lines, the numbers are still reserved for account for 30 days, and the unlimited data would not be lost.
