Use code "Upgrade"

Motorola DROID Mini | Verizon Wireless

uploadfromtaptalk1450705643043.jpg

If you want, you can pay it off as soon as you get the phone.

This is an older device, but not bad for a backup device or for kids. This will activate directly on Verizon's system without requiring any loopholes unlike Verizon prepaid phones.

I just tried that promo code for upgrading to the Note 5, but not sure if it actually did anything since it's already on sale for $100 off. It didn't let me enter the promo code until right at the end. While the screen shot shows it was successful, I don't think the displayed price changed.

What does your confirmation email say? Mine says $8 retail, $0.33/mo

I am on contract. I can't do this when I am on contract?
On my other line which was offered an early upgrade, then I had to turn in my current device as part of early edge. Not sure if this has changed but it happened to me when I got the 6sp at release. Also I don't think that those upgrading early would qualify for the coupon.

Figured out what's going on. The "upgrade" promo code does work with other phones. I was playing around some more and found where I goofed. If you look in the checkout screen like in my first pic, you'll see a "+" for an expandable box without a description below the recycle/trade in option. That's where you should enter the promo code (I guess they like to hide it). When I entered it there, now the Note 5 reflects the additional $100 off, for $200 total off the regular price.

Fyi, when I called the other day, the rep said the current instant $100 off sale (the advertised one that doesn't use a code) is set to end on either the 26th or 27th. So order soon if you want to take advantage of that deal.

Fyi, I paid off the dpp on it after it shipped but before I got it. Then promptly ordered another one! Still works as of this morning.

For those not getting it to work online, you can try to call in. I read on slickdeals.net that someone had success that way.

Swappa here you come? Lol

While the upgrade promo code doesn't work on new lines, it looks like the $300 credit on new lines is still going on. Trade in cheap throw away phone for the $300 credit, buy the Mini, cancel new line, profit $192? Sell mini for more profit or keep as a backup.

Keep in mind that for the $300 new line trade in promotion, that you would need to keep service for 3 months.

I saw that posted about, but when I checked, the 3 month requirement wasn't showing up in my fine print. Of course that could have changed since then.

I have 5 lines on an existing Nationwide Talk+Text 1400 plan (all out of contract). Can I get the Droid Mini (x5), then cancel the entire thing (lines and plan)...and only owe the total DPP ($8 x5)?

If so, are there any other deals (rebates, etc) to go along with this?

What plan are you on? I was on a Nationwide plan with unlimited data for $49.99.

I was able to use the UPGRADE code to get the device for $8 or $0.33 per month.

I paid off the $8.00 device payment and I am on a month to month contract.

However, I am not eligible for an upgrade discount till 12/27/17.

How long did it take for you to be upgrade eligible again and did you have to activate the phone?

How do you get the 300 credit for a new line?

It's a current promotion that if you activate a new line and trade in any working smartphone, you'll get a $300 credit (or e-gift card). What a lot of people are doing is going to Wal-Mart, Best Buy, or other places to buy cheap prepaid phones for under $20, then immediately using them for the trade in.

Like Dpham00 said above, they may have changed the promotion to require a minimum three month activation time or have the rebate charged back to your account. I haven't seen it yet, but I know the rule has been mentioned before by another member. People were basically profiting by getting the credit, then canceling the line and moving the new phone to an existing line as a way of getting around the "Not available for upgrades" stipulation of the promo.

Gotcha. I misread it I guess. I was thinking it was a $300 to change service and then a $300 for phone trade-in. Blonde moment for me!
