Wireless tether?

I seen that through my wireless & network settings there is a portable hotspot setting. Can anyone confirm that this is more practical or not versus using a 3rd party app?

aosp cm7??? Its flashy and it packs a punch. Overall an excellent rom.

If they are the upgraded 2.2.2 then no they won't work. LG or Virgin blocked it like Sprint did the the optimus S. People abused it and now it is gone for new non-rooted owners.

The following roms can natively do wireless tethering/hot spotting:
Reborn
Harmonia
Bumblebee
AOSP's CM7
and yes, even the stock 2.2.1 rom

Only the stock rom needs a widget to make it work. All of the other roms added the correct link to the wireless settings menu so no widget or app is needed.

Widgets makes it faster to get to though.
I still recommend Quick Settings as it handles brightness and sound control at the same time.
