During a talk entitled ‘Developing for Virtual Reality’ today at Evolve in Brighton, nDreams CEO Patrick O’Luanaigh revealed that the UK studios is currently working on five virtual reality (VR) projects. O’Luanaigh also suggested that the studio was working on multiple head-mounted displays (HMDs) after having already stated that he believes the future is more than just the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus.

The first of these projects was revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles last month. The Assembly is an adventure videogame in which the player is pushed to the edge of sanity with the proposal of some life-altering questions and no option but to play the hand they have been dealt in an underworld conspiracy. SkyDIEving is another VR project from nDreams, however this was merely a tech demo which has since been made publicly available for free. What the other four projects will eventually become is not yet known.

Furthermore, O’Luanaigh spent much of his time during the talk discussing Project Morpheus and the various editions of the Oculus Rift, but maintained that the future of VR would see many more HMDs available to the public. The fact that O’Luanaigh stated that nDreams are working on ‘multiple headsets’ as opposed to simply reiterating the PlayStation 4 and PC HMDs suggests that nDreams is looking further a field.

There are a number of other HMDs already on their way to market, including GameFace Labs’ GameFace, the Altergaze mobile adapter and True Player Gear’s Totem. Is nDreams working on these devices also? VRFocus will keep you updated with any further reveals from the studio
