I've had mine since launch of the S8, have not used it too much. Recently got a free Kia Nero branded Google cardboard. Decided to see what's different and play with different apps and videos. It's clearly an inferior build to the gear VR (it's Google cardboard, goes without saying...) But I noticed something. The optics on the lenses are noticeably better on my free cardboard unit versus my gear VR. On my gear, I see a lot of, well best to describe it as smearing and blurryness with anything outside of dead center. This makes getting into focus difficult and overall I dislike the experience. I figured that's just how VR is right now. Until I tried my free cardboard unit. Now the blurryness on edges is still there but it's not nearly as bad. And I can focus much better with it. You guys think my gear VR has bad lenses or is this typical? Kinda weird a free cardboard unit looks better than a 100 dollar retail VR headset.
