How do I set 'My Contacts' as a default

I have searched for a solution to no avail. I have a Galaxy S5. I would really love to set 'My Contacts' as a default so when I make a phone call I am not scrolling through 3000 names. All I want is to see my list that I call/text on regular basis to show up when I open 'Contacts'

What is your current default for that? You should just be able to find that app in settings > apps > all. Then click on it and tap "clear defaults." Next time you need that feature, you will be asked which app you want as default

In widgets, most phone has some way to create some sort of favorites listing. Some have widgets that allow you to make direct dial icons. These would reside on one of your panels of your choosing. Or, select your contacts icon, long press on the contact and select Add to Favorites. This will add your most used contacts to a Favorites tab.
