Exchange services have stopped

Hello,

For weeks the email (hotmail) on my phone has been working flawlessly, with sync set to push. Suddenly a couple of weeks ago, out of the blue, I started getting the message 'Exchange services have stopped' which popped up continuously.

I quickly managed to stop the message popping up by turning my email sync off. Up until now I have just been refreshing my email to check them but now I want to fix this issue. I don't want to use the hotmail app or any other app, I want to fix the email program.

I have data sync on and my Android is v4.4.4

Welcome to Android Central! If you go to Settings>Apps>All​ and select Exchange Services, are you able to Clear Cache or Clear Data? That might help. If you Clear Data, you might have to reenter your email account information again.
