Could be failure of the wall socket, the charger, the USB lead, the USB port, the battery, or something else. In short, it could be pretty much any one, or more than one, of the possible causes of that happening. I'm afraid you'll have to eliminate them one by one.

As a starting tip, make sure the USB port is clean and fluff-free.
