microsoft exchange activesync issues

I have a xperia z3, and 2 weeks ago upgraded to lollipop (5.02). All had been fine until yesterday. I lost all the contacts from my phone (calender also). This is very frustrating to say the least.

All my contacts and calender a have been syncing directly through microsoft exchange activesync for my business account. I am still getting email through that account.

I have tried deleting my exchange account and re installing without success several times. For some reason the exchange account is only showing up in email. I have tried adding the account to the contacts->menu->setting -> add account; also to settings-> accounts->add account. The only place the account installs is under settings->accounts->email (in this location, there is no option to sync calender, contacts, notes)

This is driving me crazy! I do to want to re-install my OS, but I can not think of any other options!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
