Why are earphones not working when I play a radio station but they work with a phone call?

I can use the earphones when talking on the Galaxy S5, but recently they've stopped working when I listen to Pandora or iHeart radio. I've tried 2 other sets of earbuds and have the same problem. I've checked and the sound is not muted or in mono, and it works fine without the earbuds, but once the earbuds are in (and they are in all the way so the connection is good) the ability to hear through them disappears.

Welcome to Android Central! What about other apps that play sound or music, like games, YouTube, etc.? Do those work with the earphones?
