Why is my screen not responding?

When I touch something, it doesn't do anything. My notification sound goes off, but I can't check them. I can turn my volume up and hit the power button, but I can't click anything. The screen is stuck on my lockscreen. Can anyone help?

Welcome to AC.

If you can, remove the battery for a few minutes and replace.
Also, if you can boot into Recovery, try a Cache Partition wipe.
