Cannot access settings after update a few days ago

[AC Question]

Hi I have a Samsung galaxy s3. I got a notice there was an update a few days ago so (silly me) I did it. Now I cannot access the settings gear from either swiping the top or the lhs button . I also get unfortunately, Favourite Apps has stopped and unfortunately TouchWiz Home has stopped when I push lhs button on bottom of phone. Any help would be appreciated. I cannot get into settings to find out which update this was. Thanks.

Welcome.

First, try a Cache Partition wipe, good practice after a system update, if that is what it was....and if it was not, the wipe will do no harm.
If still no go, get back to us right here.

Try wiping the cache partition. It won't erase any data, and may improve the performance of your phone after an update. Follow these instructions: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-6205#cache_partition

Just curious, what did it say the update was for? My S3 hasn't gotten an update since last year, so I find it interesting that you just got one.
