Why does this phone alert me every 20seconds that the battery is low?

My battery is below 15 percent again (because the battery staying power is really terrible) and literally EVERY 20 SECONDS I get an alert about the battery that tells me the battery is low.

It's not only annoying, it wastes battery power, which is ironic. How do I stop this notification without totally turning it off? Or even if I have to turn it all the way off?

Yes, avoid all CM apps like the plague! If you're running Marshmallow, you can kill all notifications from all apps...
