In the Messenger app, my keyboard has shrunk and I can't get it back to a normal size

Problem #1: my carriage return key has mysteriously disappeared from the keyboard and has been replaced with the backspace key

Problem #2: somehow, in trying to fix problem #1, I have caused the on-screen keyboard to shrink to a mini size and I can't get it back. How do I reset the keyboard to a normal size?

What phone do you have? I'm assuming you're just using the stock keyboard app for that particular phone.
